I'm a tech failure, can I........

..... have a website built that once it was complete, I could just upload my own content?
I don't really know how a webmaster operates or what they do? Is a webmaster the same person that builds the site in the first place or someone different?
What I was wanting in a perfect world is a website that looks nice and clean and easy to use that I can maintain with no technical ability worth speaking of.
Is this a possibility?
Thanks guys, hope you all had a great xmas and new year :)

Obviously there will be some that do both, but technicaly a designer would design the site and a webmaster would take care of maintaining the site with the updates, promotion etc.

Just to add, if you wanted to maintain it yourself you would need to learn how to use a program like dreamweaver, or if you had a CMS inside the members area how to program it etc.

Oh ok, kinda what I figured so that leaves the question of how difficult would it be to be the webmaster of my own site? I wouldn't be able to build it, I dabbled with wordpress but couldn't make it work for me, also couldn't find the right tools to get the payment parts right etc.
If the site was built in the right way, would I be able to learn to update it etc?
Cheers fella.
Matt.

Ahh ok, that seems to suggest to me that the answer is indeed no then because I don't have dreamweaver and have no idea what the CMS is all about lol.
Hmmm, back to the drawing board :)

I built and maintain my site with Joomla

The building was relatively simple when you get used to using Joomla and now it is built its very easy to add content, blog, articles etc. to it. There's extensions for doing pretty much everything already on Joomla's site that you just download and install into your own site and then just customise them to your specs.

Just another thing for you to look at .. and way easier than using Dreamweaver. Also, Joomla is all based online so it means you can log in from any computer to work on your site.

Hey Harmony :)

Thank you so much for that, I have not heard of Joomla but I will look into it right now :) Do you know if it can be used as a pay site too?

Take care, hope to chat soon.

Hi,
I used moonfruit to design and run my own website, found it very easy to do, so if I can do it then anyone can. I prefer to have full control over my site, so for me this was the answer.

Good luck with it anyway

Yes.

You need a CMS based system where they build it and you run it. All they do is software updates as needed.

Charges - lump for build, modest monthly fee for tech support.

'I dabbled with wordpress but couldn't make it work for me'
CMS = Content management system

If you are going to start messing with a site then you should know some php/html/css/rss/.htaccess/.png/jpg/*.*.

You could start with
