Help needed as have started shooting short HD videos but files are so large at around 2-3GB, what is the best software or way to reduce these files to a more user friendly size for uploading and posting on web, any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Welcome to the world of compression! What format are you shooting on, AVCHD? You say they are "Short clips" how short? Are you using PC or Mac?

I do everything on Mac. Maybe join the forum or Google "AV forum", under Home Elecronics theres a section on camcorders and editing, might be a good idea to ask on there for advice.

Hi Gaza

Try Pinnacle 15 it sails through AVCHD really easy, its also great for capturing clear 1920 x 1080p pictures from the film.
Give me an e-mail as i have another prog that converts AVCHD to various formats.

Kim x

On a Mac: AVCHD is H.264 so you should be able to transcode the footage into FCP 6.0 or higher, log and transfer then select "Apple ProRes 422" as your sequence preset.

..doh. Sent by mistake.

Then edit as usual and save as 'compressed' WMV or DivX.
