Pay sites relationship with free sites

Hi guys,
This is the first time I?ve posted here - I had no idea this forum was so lively otherwise I would have been visiting for ages.
I'm sure many of you here are familiar with my site OidsWorld which having not only server problems (SLOW!) but now also copyright problems. It is this second point that I would like to ask your views on.
The Internet porn business has always been regarded as the driving force in innovation on the Internet in terms of promotion, advertising and e-commerce. Some of the methods used however seem very backward to me. What has triggered this post is that today I got an email from www.goldclub.co.uk regarding the fact that they own the copyright to 20 (yes 20) images on my site and would I please remove them or face legal action. This as a statement I have no problem with. I fully understand copyright law and know that I am in the wrong by using them. That is not the issue. The strange thing about the situation is why don?t they take advantage of sites like mine for promotion of their own sites. An email along the lines of: if you want to keep the images can you link to www.goldclub.co.uk would be a far more intelligent thing to do (I feel). I?m pretty sure I know Krome?s views on this, as I?m sure there are images on OidsWorld that he owns the copyright to. The difference with him is that he understands and knows how to use sites like mine to promote himself. Over the years there have been several big free brit sites (Heavenly Bodies, Totty Tribute, OidsWorld, Third Page etc.) ? if I was a pay site based along similar lines to these sites I would realize that the webmasters of these sites would make far better friends than enemies.
I?d love to know what readers of this forum think with regards to this issue
