I'm seriously considering subscribing to spice-platinum but at the moment I only have the basic Sky installation. From all I've read it appears I will need to purchase an appropriate receiver/decoder but what I'm not sure about is would my dish need to be re-alligned? There's no way I could do this myself being absolutely useless at technical stuff and as I live in a tiny village I can assure you that getting the local tv shop to do it would soon have the gossips out! Any info would be much appreciated.

Hi
There's various ways of doing it, why don't you give Sat Europa the official UK distributors a call. They will be able to explain it and they sell packages including the dish, decoder and card cheaply.

You will need a zone 2 mini dish pointing at the hotbird sattellite, a reciever (i have a technomate tm5000i) an irdeto CAM and of course the viewing card.
You should be able to get setup for under ?500.
Shop around for viewing cards I paid ?103 for my spice viewing card but I havve seen them at ?140

You'll need a receiver with a built in IRDETO CAM or a standalone receiver with a seperate IRDETO CAM. You'll probably also need a dish around 85cm to get the best picture.
I have an 85cm dish with a dual LNB pointed at 13/19* East and a seperate single LNB pointed at 28* East to receive Sky Digital, that way I can get all I want on one dish.
I bought a receiver from a company called myersat who were the cheapest by far,
www.myersat.com, bought a card from SAT Europa and got it installed by satellite engineer, all in all it cost me approx ?500.
Best bet is to buy What Satellite magazine or visit
