I have spoken to the police on my land line ten minutes ago

& hey presto

a nuisance phone call from 01252 563405 which is a Hampshire STD..

Again BT can't do anything ...... RIP

These days many of them will be making Voice over IP calls and 'spoofing' the number to fool the telco networks into passing the call as a UK national number.

It's impossible to stop them all however I agree the telcos could do more to cut down on it. No profit in it for them to do so though...in fact remember they also earn revenue off one another for sending/receiving traffic between networks so maybe another reason they aren't too bothered. They tend to focus on restricting fraud on their own retail customers rather than at the wider national network level, since they can sell an enhanced security feature to retail customers etc...

Perhaps// Save the Polar bare brigade should react as the servers are on the networks 24/7 and using , something to cool them and pumping it elsewhere

06 is not even a valid number range in the UK these days and especially if presented as an originating number. Probably arrived via some international SIP interconnect which passed any old digits. The originating digits have always been lax in terms of validation hitting the UK operator networks, the focus is all on valid dialled digits. But it has got even worse in the voice over IP calls (SIP interconnects) age.
