i must say i was shocked by the lack of response to my first post 'the battle between free sites and pay sites' - as this forum is proberly the place you ask the questions you really want to know the answers to. It's now gone afew pages back but feedback would be great - esp from the people who matter, ie those who own their own sites, and those in the industry - btw, phil you realy need to get hold of someone who knows their internet, look at ben-dover.com - or any of the others , you are mising out mate and its a shame - i wanna see a fair fight....

Why were you shocked?
I didnt know there was a battle going on.....I look after 5 paysites and 1 free site and the pay sites do much better than the free site.
Pay sites can show exclusive pics that havent been sold to anybody else so people like to look at them...Free sites show stuff that can be found all over the net...so where is the competition?

The general idea of free sites is to show the same old stuff. People wont join a paysite if they can get it for free. My British free sites do well, but my paysites fund my excessive alcohol habit. The two need each other; the free sites to show samples from the paysites and then get paid by the pay sites as someone joins through the banner adverts. Pay sites do not have banners and just 100% kick arse content..Simple.

I remmeber the days we didn't need to explain how or why we made money. All these very nice guys don't question their phone bills as they use them to access the internet and our site maybe they think BT etc should pay us for our services, or in the UK we all go on one server and then we could have a cheap rate dialer like cable etc....
I don't even want to make money through my sites just promote my products and if I am lucky get it to pay for itself.
I am playing with putting all my sites together and making a one off charge for lifetime access to them all and all my services. This can be payable by cash,cheque or credit card on telephone.
What do the guys recon . probable charge..?20 or free with a video/mag purchase.

I reckon that a businessman who "doesn't want to make any money" is a very odd chap indeed, and doomed by his own hand to failure on all levels.

well I guess thats me then, a failure, in your own ass mate. Just came back from the pub with a top, top class bird that was trying to shag me in the pub and interupt my liason with my Guinness. Still if I make it through the night without cutting my wrists I will post tommorow.
