R18 UK mailorder is clearly illegal and clearly the police have more important
things to target.

I imagine there'll be the occassional prosecution just to put that element of
uncertainty into potential sellers - which will probably deter quite a few from chancing it.
Quite a cost effective way of damage limitation- either until the law changes
or there's a major purge.

R18 the way I understand it can be sent through the post as long as it is sent from a licensed sex shop, how this is governed is open to interpretation.

Post Office Act 1953 forbids the sending of obscene material through the post. Fuji film are always telling me to come and collect my snapshots from their lab or pay for a private carrier.

Yes, the law is widely flouted. Although I can't condone breaking the law, it has to be said that the law in this area has ceased to make any sense at all. It shows a lot of similarities to the Sunday trading fiasco, lets hope that the Govenment wakes up or someone takes out a case against the Govenment at the ECHR.

I consider my snaps to be very artistic and taken in the best possible taste. Still it gives the girls in the customer service dept at the Fuji lab in Royal Leamington Spa a good laugh when I write to complain about what they and the Post Office could possibly have against young ladies using dildos.

This is why a certain magazine company (based in Essex) are now asking for ?20 a set to return unwanted material....so they can return it by courier.... although it only costs about a fiver to send by post (recorded delivery) and as far as I am aware they have received everything I have ever sent them, by post, without any problems. Seems to be a good rip-off/tie-in with the local courier company...........

Out of interest, does this apply to magazines too? I get a magazine on subscription from a UK distributor, that's of American origin and contains R18 hardcore. Is that not too considered "obscene material" along the lines of R18 videos? Or are photos not classified the same way as videos?

What a bizarre country this is.
