For Sooty Turner's pictorial in the November 1980 issue of Mayfair (Vol.15#11) she says that she doesn't use her name Sodiroulla Turner as it grates somewhat in English and that she's been known as Sooty as long as she can remember. It also says that although both her parents are Greek she was born in the UK.
