bgafd - format changes

Post by bfu »

congratulations on the format changes.

the darker red should come out better for us that use laser printers.

and the change form putting all the titles starting with 'the' under the, rather than next word in title.

like the colour change to show alternative titles

one small critism - some of the detail as to studio/producers/suppliers has gone making finding a film a little harder.

makes the best site on the web even better

yes, a big hand is due to the man with the plan - mr phil k.

thanx to his sterling efforts, bgafd is now a fully dynamic database with it's potential for presenting information greatly enhanced, as a result.

e.g. check out the updates section - a vast improvement on the old historical summaries format, i think you'll agree.

If you can't see such info it probably wasn't there in the first place. The only thing I deleted (except perhaps for a few accidental deletions) in the process of moving the date and director info (where it existed) into new fields was the word 'Unknown' the use of which in that field possibly implied that there was a studio called 'Unknown'. There are lots of blanks to be filled in of course.

Just to clarify a bit, some of the information that was on the film index pages has been removed, but everything should still be listed on the film details page. This was mainly done to make the index pages look a little bit cleaner, especially given that the database has now been extended to hold additional details such as release and director separately.

And I recommend you check the review section under updates in particular - hats off to Bayleaf for some sterling work on the review front over the Christmas period.

Better, but I find the 'egafd-style' search facility a little unforgiving- if you (as I frequently do) misspell your search, it requires you to retype the entire string- and with some of those E Euro names that could take up to a week.
Of course, this stricture was also a problem with the original bgafd search..........
"a harmless drudge, that busies himself in tracing the original, and detailing the
signification...."

Fantastic work Phil. So many improvements.

A couple that grabbed me straightaway are the clear listing of alternative film titles and the new image galleries for the girls, particularly useful when there has been a radical image change such as here: .

Not sure I follow. The original search terms remain in the search box after a search, albeit they're highlighted for quick erasing if you want to enter completely new terms. Just move the cursor to undo the highlighting (or click in the text box) and edit away ...

Thanks. Perhaps more important than the changes you see now is the platform it's given us to build on in the future (as woodgnome has already hinted at). It'll also be a lot more straightforward getting new info onto the site than it was in the past.
