Here is an open letter from some Performers of the UK Adult Industry.
JFT media totally support (as per posting 23/01/04 on ) the need for all Adult Performers to be tested ever 30 days for what ever scene they are completing.
We trust that now all Adult producers will start to require a full 30 day or under HIV & STD test.
Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation
To all involved in the Adult Industry in the UK and Europe we feel that Health for the sex worker is very important in body, mind, emotion & spirit!
The main need is preventing sexually transmitted diseases, particularly HIV, which causes AIDS, in a line of work in which men and women may have dozens of sexual partners in a matter of weeks.
The risk is certainly not zero. But providing an important service to high-risk professionals vulnerable to STDs is important. Getting an STD is one of the realities of working in the sex industry and has happened to the best of us on numerous occasions.
We can't give people morals, but we can help them by educating them. As agents YOU are responsible for your models and actors to act accordingly in providing the necessary paperwork relating to the adult industry. There is no 90 days HIV test for one thing!!
We also have INDIGO at Charing Cross Hospital and Harley St Clinic and Regents Park Clinic to thank for their support in England.
We are all familiar with the HIV tests being a maximum of 30 days.
We also recommend STD testing and screening results on paper every 60 days if not less. Some of us have already decided not to work with anyone unless they can provide a full screening within the month that they have worked. In Europe some of the Agents have taken it upon themselves to tell the performers that providing a full screening will guarantee less of a risk. Anyone can now carry a STD without any symptoms.
Of course some of you might disagree but YOU should praise yourself for getting tested because being aware is being part of the solution.
Many thanks.
Performers of the The Adult Industry.

Re: Open letter from UK Adult Performers
lets be honest here. How about all the agents that fuck the girls getting tested as well, before a one month test is brought in, as the incubation period for hiv is three months, so a one month test is no more effective.

I can see Jasons point but have to agree with Marino.
A full HIV/STD screening costs at least ?200-?250 to walk away with your cert same day. So who is going to cover the cost of this, every 30-60 days.
The Producers, Agents or Models?
Yes I know testing can be obtained free on the NHS but not the same day & you still have to pay for your paperwork!
Our local GUMS clinic is already beyond capacity so the 6-8 week wait for an appointment plus the 2-3 week wait for the results would make 30-60 day testing a very interesting experience!

Re: Open letter from UK Adult Performers
As an actor I have always been happy to pay for my health care and always will, if related to this industry, It is a tool of my trade.
I have always been meticulous with a grooming and health routine, and was shooting long before tests came out in the U.K.
I am more than hopeful that the boys and girls do their best to look after themselves, the busy professionals generally do, but there is so much stuff going on outside porno hours how are the agents going to monitor the pratices that go on?
Maybe it would be wise to give the new actors and actresses you are so keen to book out some advice on personal grooming and hygiene, instead of leaving it to us guys on set on the day of the shoot.
And please do not say you do, as I have never seen new talent on set with a complete kit for work.
If we do our best to keep our own house in order then we should not really have so much to worry about.

GUMS clinic.....HAHAHA
Damn, that is excellent.........you mean it's a real clinic?
Fuck me!!
OK, OK, I'm gonna sod off back to the other side.
Someone grassed you lot up and said you have no sense of humour but I just had to find out.
Anyway, to keep this on topic and not face the wrath of deletion, I hope all the men & women involved stay safe & healthy.

Re: Open letter from UK Adult Performers
GUM = Genito-Urinary Medicine......a lot quicker and easier to just say GUM or G-U-M really, plus it doesn't sound as nasty as 'Clap Clinic' or somesuch.
Personally, I fail to see the humour in it, but maybe that's just me? Perhaps the potential for a mix-up or misunderstanding involving dental or orthodontic clinics?

Yes Dan, that's it!
Simple really.
The good old British slapstick humour of double entendre and Carry On GUMS style exchange.
Besides, I'm still young enough to find the phrase Clap Clinic hilarious.
Like at school when you learn the word pubes, and you can't stop saying it or rhyming it to Cube a la Rubics Pube.
Serious side again to upease the Mods of War, I do wonder about the saftey issue.
When John Holmes died, it must have scared the shit out of the ladies who had worked with him, and in turn the guys that worked with them.
Someone once mentioned some guys doing gay & straight films. Surely that increases the stretch of people needed for testing.
In an ideal world, testing could be a standard but as Marino says, what are the chances of monitoring after hours or couch trip activity?
All I can say is, stay safe and don't lose your head.
