With regards to a couple of recent postings - Harmony video shame & Models! What models - jesus, guys, you're supposed to be fucking producers. What do producers do? They solve problems!!

Seems to me while some people are bemoaning the miserable state of the British porn industry, you're not hearing much from the likes of Relish who've got their heads down, quietly going about their business, and developing their brand. ("Doh! Branding!? Who needs branding in porno?!" Well, it's one of the things that moves an industry up in the eyes of the world.) Good for them. They're playing the long game, not sulking on line, moaning about how impossible it all is. Only time I've read stuff from them here is when it's directly linked to business and customer service.

Over the last two years doing stuff for TVX I've pretty much used up all the good boy-girl talent, and the kind of stuff I want to develop really calls for quality girls, PRETTY girls. But I'm going to find a way to do it even if, bottom line, I have to spend more money. Failure is not an option. I HAVE TO GET THE GIRLS!!! I HAVE TO MAKE MY FILMS!!! I'm in total agreement with Jules Jordan here when he said that all the stuff he did when he was starting out he made a loss on -- because he wanted it to be right. He totally cared about his product. And if he hadn't done that then he would not have been able to realise his vision on screen.

I'm fully confident about the future of the industry in this country because there are people out there with vision and talent -- who's to say what Trevor Watson might end up doing, maybe starting his own very British brand along the lines of Andrew Blake and Studio A; what's Anna Span going to do; Relish have already cornered the XXX Carry On niche (clever clever, great for exporting to the US); the best of our gonzo is superb and uniquely English. And I'm not going anywhere -- I want to stay in London and be known as a London director and get more weird and leftfield in a very English way (you don't need bigger budgets to make greater emotional or erotic impact on the screen). And if I have to fork out more money importing some of my talent, then that is what I will do and I'll take out a little less money for myself.

I think we have unbelievable potential to be the best pornographers in the world. And I think that we will be. What a brilliant challenge.

Good luck to you. You'll need it. There isn't a producer alive who doesn't care about his product. That is the whole problem we are discussing. Some of us care too much about making a product to be proud of. BUT want the right reward that it should deserve for all the work we do on it. The wrong people are making all the money in porn. That isn't an argument it is a fact !

Dave, I don't get it. Distributing your own stuff doesn't have to mean selling through the shops. For example what's to stop anyone shooting an hour of hardcore stuff with just the one couple, coming onto this forum to advertise it, then burning the DVDs at home and shipping them out, one by one, as when and when the orders come in? I know it's strictly illegal but I can't help coming back to the 'where there's a will there's a way' thing. Small acorns, mate...

I can sympathise with the 'old school'- but if a business doesn't, can't or won't evolve, it dies.

Small acorns, mate... again thats the whole point we are on about. Been there done that etc, etc. Why go backwards ? Thats what ( again no offence ) small time new guys like yourself do. And then probably slightly cheap to get a sale. Which creates a problem for the rest of us because all punters want a bargain.
And as for jj's the industry not evolving or it will die statement. Again thats the point it IS going to die the way things are going. We are simply saying that with all the best will in the World to make a good product and for it to do well and make us money so we can keep doing it are disappearing at vast rate of knots because there are way to many people involved now bringing all the prices tumbling down.
This bloody internet is the route cause !

I don't know what the problem is? I have never had a shortage of new models in the 17 years I've been in this business.....You want to know why? It's because I get up off my arse and go out and find them! I do 50,000 miles a year in the UK going to the girls rather than waiting for them to find me. This is why I'm shooting 7 days a week instead of wondering where the next girl will be coming from.
Also, Andy I notice you didn't mention Rude Britannia in your post. They have got things in the pipeline that are going to turn this industry on it's head! That's no Idle boast......I can't make any anoucements now, but just watch this space........!
