There are just "old days" i.e. times gone by. Whether we appreciate the status quo or not, we are stuck with it and have to make what we can of what is available and expand our horizons; one door may well close but another opens.

One time I could earn a very hefty chunk of dough over a weekend - now I cannot, but I don't spend my time thinking about it, it's gone and now I do something else.
One reason I got out of the glamour agency scene was because it IS tough to find new girls and I don't have the inclination to make sufficient effort anymore and many girls now find alternative ways of making money - but that is not to say that girls are not out there. My own personal beef with modern agencies is that they do not tell girls the absolute bald truth, which is to their mutual detriment.

To each his own, but pearls of wisdom have never bought a bottle of JW or paid the rent - mine or anyone else's.

Funny how when Dave and many of the other producers myself included come on the forum and discuss the industry they are a part off its moaning, The Harmony thread was a genuine post from someone concerned about quality, I spoke with Kev today and it news to him so he is looking into it, something happened now when a punter asks a question do you want an genuine answer or a piss off we got your money, coz the producers and distributers who don't come on here may have that attitude.
As for the film your sister and sell the DVD on the forum (well it cheaper if you don't tell her). That is a perfect example of someone who could have thought about it a bit longer,,,,go to jail do not pass go,,, etc etc,,, proceeds of crime no house,,,,,,pass the soap said Babba,,,,,.
The facts are the industry is dieing not changing look US, Germany etc. Soon all that will survive is small niche markets who sell a few DVD's but they can make it so cheap who cares, Amatuer has ruined it for the punter without him realising it. The girls who most of you guys speak about Stacy, Lucy, Misty would not have done "gangbang fist bukkake volume 5" as their second job because there was professional crews booking them and spending bucks on the sets, Don't make me piss my pants with laughter ask Rem how much our budgets were when we were shooting soft-core. The girls got paid more then for licking their own nipple than they do now for swallowing 20 guys loads.......Listen to what the true professionals have to say and ask them some questions you will learn something.

I think this downward spiral of crapness that is pissing people off can be directly attributed to the increasing power of accountants in all areas of business including the media as a whole. Weird as this may sound please allow me to elaborate. Look at TV and the proliferation of abysmal reality tv shows, cooking programmes and DIY shows and all that crap. It can all be made on a shoestring and none of it requires actors. It's shite but it's cheap and looks wonderful in the accounts.

Look at the music business. Why invest in an "Album" band with a potential career of decades when the latest "Pop Idol" twat can turn a fast buck for fifteen minutes and then be fucked off back to obscurity. I honestly wonder if bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd would even be signed if they came along today.

From what I read on here it would seem that even adult video companies would prefer to market the results of some tosser with a Handycam rather than invest in a "Production" as such made by people who know what they're doing.

I'm a capitalist through and through and I love ??? but surely it's not ALL about the money...is it?

Yeah, top post Jim and some good observations of the general entertainment industry by Rude Boy. You're right; it is all shit now because nowadays the tunes are called by accountants, corporate cunts and shareholders, not artists.

Had to have a little laugh at that quite correct observation... I mean - theres another industry dead on it's feet - Boxing (possibly sport in general)... ruined by greed... OK - the porn industry isn't totally comparable with boxing - but to some extent it's the same. The distributors are like the equivelant to boxing promoters from what I can see.

Interesting story (to me anyway) is that when I was boxing amateur I had Richard Dunn's old manager (Ken Richardson) want to take me professional together with two other kids at our gym. Old Ken was making a comeback to the game (management, not boxing itself! at 70 odd yrs old. I can only speculate about his motivation - I think it was probably sentimental more than anything - missing the game etc. Anyway - I never had any aspirations for the pro game, I knew back then that it was a corrupt and twisted world and unless you were under the umbrella of one of the top stables you were only ever gonna be cannon fodder - which is precisely what one of the three of us became... He had 3 fights under Ken and he got battered from pillar to post in all three...

But there, again, I think we can make an analogy with the porn game. Old Ken was like the equivelant of an amateur in the porn game. He can put a fighter in the ring, make a few quid out of him then move onto the next one and make another few quid out of him...

There's probably room for both amateurs and professionals in porn; Yes, I do think modern technology has changed things forever - but what HAS happened to the big budget productions these days? Surely there is still a market for them?

Well... here's an interesting question for ya Dave... There ARE some big budget productions being made over the pond. Now, taking the censorship laws aside, why is the business so different over there?

Basically - the question is - modern technology hasn't totally destroyed big budget productions stateside - and let's face it, modern technology is cheaper, more accessible and available earlier over there.

They have had the experience of producing hard-core for nye on 30 years now. We have been doing it underground etc for 15-20 years. Since we changed the rules by taking the BBFC to court here in 2000 there is still no stucture or format of proper distribution companies here. It would and could be solved but again everything is against it. An example would be Larry Flint wanted to open up 10 brand new sex shops like his excellent one on Sunset blvd in LA in the 10 major UK cities. The authorities just said no. So we still have to put up with the flashy mack type Sullivan establishments that no one would like to be seen dead in.
