US HIV+ crisis...another positive test.

Post by DanG »

Have just read that Laura Roxx, a girl from the 'first generation' of potential infection cases to have worked with Darren James, has now also tested HIV+. She is apparently only 18-19 years old.

She worked with Darren on 23/3/04, in a mini-gang bang type scene which also featured Maxx Black and Mark Anthony, who have now both been added to her 'first generation' list, as well as two female performers she worked with subsequently (Rayveness and Eva). Given that the scene featured double anal, the risk of infection is considerably higher for all parties involved. Also, given the date of the scene, it does not look good for a number of other names on the list who worked with Darren James during that time period.

I hope that AIM is able to quickly establish lists of who has worked with who, and I believe the production moratorium will go some way to halting the spread of this outbreak and give AIM some breathing space to connect all of the dots and find out everyone who is potentially affected by both the initial and secondary case. However, I have an awful feeling that there will be more positive tests to come.

Ultimately, I don't think this is a condom or non-condom issue....simply one of certain performers being irresponsible. I believe the proposed 60-day limit on anyone coming in/back from abroad (such as Brazil) would have headed this crisis off, and I believe such a law or guideline will soon come into effect in the States.

1st & 2nd Generation Lists So Far

Post by Cornish Chris »

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - On April 12, Darren James was confirmed as HIV-positive. The Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) immediately began the process of containing the virus by quarantining everyone who may have come in contact with the disease, ensuring that it doesn't become an epidemic.

HIV-postive: Darren James and Lara Roxx. Now there are two lines of the HIV virus to track. James' has Line A. Roxx has line B.

First-Generation of Line A: Thirteen women are known to have worked with Darren James during the time he is believed to have been HIV-positive. This list is considered complete.

These women are: Jocelyn (3/19/2004); Dynasty (3/25/2004), Annie Cruz (3/29/2004); Banesca, Persia, Miss Arroyo (3/30/2004); Kayla Marie, Jessica Dee (4/07/2004); Lara Roxx (3/24/2004), Skyler Banks, Patrice Petite, Candy Ray, Deserie Clark, and Kayla Marie again (4/08/2004).

The dates following each group of names is when it is believed that the women in that group worked with James.

Second-Generation of Line A: The group of performers, both male and female, that have worked with members of the first-generation since their scene with James. This list is far from complete.

The following are on the second-generation list: John Strong, Carlos Mendes, Mark Anthony, T.T. Boy, Sean Michaels, Julian St. Jox, Mark Davis, Jason Zupalo, Mark Ashley, Duane Cummings, Judy Starr, Marco T., Brock, Dominico, Mark, Sledge Hammer, Brian Pumper, Steven St. Croix, Alex Sanders, Tony Sexton, Brian Surewood, Rhiannon Bray, Alberto Ray, Kelli Starr, Jean Val Jean, Mark Anthony and L.T. Turner.

First-Generation of Line B: Maxxx Black, Darren James, Mark Anthony, (3/24/2004) Tyler Knight (3/25/2004).

Second-Generation of Line B: Rayveness and Eva Lux.

Please let AIM know of any one else that may have been known about have worked with James or a member of the second-generation. If you have worked with, or had sexual contact of a personal with any of the people on the list.

No it doesn't...

It doesn't make it ANY MORE or any less likely... I recall reading about cases in Africa where female partners of HIV infected men have NOT been infected despite being repeatedly put at risk... Studies took place to try to establish why they seemed to have a natural immunity - I haven't heard any outcomes of the studies.

HIV is a virus... Not everybody exposed to a virus is going to contract that virus... The common cold is a virus (rhinovirus? I think is its 'technical' name) - do you get a cold EVERY time you are in contact with a carrier of the virus? No... Why not? Probably more by luck than judgement I dare say... and the same goes for the tragic victims here - there's a chance that they're the only ones - the UNLUCKY ones...

You are right to a certain extent. But you increase your risk significantly in the porn industry by performing regular unprotected anal/vaginal sex with a large number of individuals. This is compounded by the globalisation effect- porn stars shagging across borders, in this case Brazil.

So yes, the chances that a regular Joe/Jane from a small village in the UK contracting HIV are slim due to the socio-environmental circumstances that they are in. A porn actor/actress on the other hand increases his/her risk significantly due to the nature of the business.

I personally think that this outbreak is the tip of the iceberg. There is so much rough sex, double anal, fisting then sex (fisting tears the anal and vaginal lining quite easily), gang bang stuff that it's surprising that this has not happened earlier.

Good luck to all of you.

The outcome of those studies was that they did have some natural immunity - its fairly well documented - there are now known to be several reasons for natural immunity to occur in some people (that I won't go into here) and since HIV has been endemic in Africa far longer than anywhere else the chances of individuals evolving a degree of immunity were rather greater.

The point I was making though was simply that if one of the first generation contacts is infected then obviously he was infectious at the time. Before that it was just a case that he had it - not certain if he had passed it on.
