UK Laws regarding importation of Hardcore Material

Can anyone advise what the current laws are regarding importing porn from other countries.

I thought it was OK to import straight sex dvd's now, but package sent over by a friend (in the US) was stopped and I received a Notice of Seizure - pornographoc material. This was bizarre - it was straight sex - nothing dodgy.

Anyone know the ture facts about our importation laws?

It happened twice. The titles were Talk Dirty To Me Number 11 and Czech Perfect. They were both straight sex dvd's only.

Seems like you have a good case to appeal (just write/phone the particular person/depot ).

The short answer is yes. Although, I've not seen the film in detail, it looks legal to import. Fivestar are very good.

Now, what did the letter say specifically? Could be a tax question.

Paul - it is legal to import anything that the BBFC would have given an R18.

This includes all forms of consensual adult sex except pissing, shitting, fisting, S&M. I've read reviews of both these films and there's nothing to suggest they wouldn't get an uncut R18, so perhaps they've been seized for reasons other than content (e.g. tax), Customs have made a mistake or the films aren't what you think they are.

First step is to determine exactly why they were seized (so we'd need to know the wording of the seizure notice). If it was for "obscene" content (and the films are what you think they are), Customs should give them back once you've established that they have made a mistake.
