Without being too blunt you get paid for what you do. A fireman gets paid, a pylon worker gets paid, a deep sea diver gets paid, all for doing dangerous work. A good point Heathray but I disagree to an extent...the issue here is not so much that it is a dangerous job in the same way as a fireman etc. If a fireman gets killed in the line of duty then it is a tragedy, no different here except that another 200+ people are also at risk of befalling the same fate...when one goes, everyone could go!
