Hi everyone, this is the first posting from the Indigo Clinic at the The West London Centre for Sexual Health. For those who don't know us, we run a small dedicated clinic offering HIV/STI tests for those working in the Adult Entertainment business (as part of our main GU clinic). We also offer Hep B vaccinations and free certificates.
We've been reading the BGAFD wesite forum for quite a while, and have been keen to log on to reply to some of the issues around HIV that come up. However, due to technical and NHS difficulties, we've only just been able to get access.
I've been away for a few weeks and have just read the thread started by Jason on 15.8.4 after I'd spoken to him about the amount of clients that do not attend their appointments at the Indigo Clinic.
Can we reassure ALL clients of the Indigo Clinic and of GUM clinics generally, that we NEVER pass on names/details of infections without the express consent of the client. We take confidentiality very seriously indeed and are bound by law (the VD Act 1974, since you ask!) to ensure confidentiality is kept. Obviously we give clients certificates with all their results on them, but it is up to them who they show them to.
The reason we contacted Jason was that he had access to this website and we didn't and he has shown interest in the clinic since we opened. We did write and e-mail Walpole when we opened the clinic to let them know of our services but never heard back from them.
We hope this clears up some of the confusion that there seems to have been in that thread around confidentiality and our contact with JFT.
We'd be happy to hear comments (constructive please!!) about the Indigo, and anything else relevant. We are still having problems with people not turning up for their appointments and would be very grateful if entertainers would call us if they can't make it. We are hoping to extend our service in the future and offer more appointments but this will depend on the attendance rate.
best wishes
Ceri

Re: Hallo from the Indigo Clinic
Hi Claire,
The clinic is appointment only, Thursday mornings and it's best to give us as much notice as possible as we get booked up really quickly.
HIV tests take around 40 mins and you get a certificate there and then. STI results take a week to come back. I f you just need an HIV test we can fit you in pretty much any time - it's the STI tests that are more difficult to fit in.
We need photo ID (passport or photo driving licence)when you collect your certificate.
If you want any more info or to book an appt. call the Health Advisers on 020 8846 1579 and mention the Indigo Clinic
hope that helps,
best wishes

Re: Hallo from the Indigo Clinic
JFT, I caught a news clip on the radio a few days ago, it was about their Targets (Royal Mail) for 2004 (upto & inclusive June 2004), ALL their targets for the 3 months leading into June 2002 FAILED.
They also admitted that throughout the UK, there is a DAILY error of 1.73 Million items of mail, turning up late, each & every day.
Is that fucked up or what, so if your waiting for that postcard, you might want to add another 6 months onto that date you mentioned b4 lol

Is it possible to make appointments by e-mail? Would this be a service you might be able to implement at some point in the future?

Re: Hallo from the Indigo Clinic
Hi Ben,
Yes it is a possibility, but it tends to be easier when we've got someone on the telephone as if their first choice of date is not available we can scroll through the appointments looking for something else straight away.
However, I'll take it back to the team and we'll talk it through and see if it can be worked on.
To make a appt. by tel. call 020 8846 1579 mentioning the Indigo Clinic.
Please give us as much notice as possible of when you want to come in.
Thanks for your message
all the best

Re: Hallo from the Indigo Clinic
How much is the charge for STD, HIV and Hep B testing?
Re: Hallo from the Indigo Clinic
Ceri can answer this herself tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it's free Alexis. Part of the National Health Service.
