More 70s-80s stuff

As a young lad in the early seventies I, like many of my generation had been eagerly awaiting the release of Sullivan's film "Come Play with Me". the film had been hyped to the sky on the back of his many magazine titles with shote from the film.

One of these shots was of a sultry looking wench dressed up in a sort of Zena the warrior type outfit and there was no doubt that these were hard core images with the obligitory black square over the offending article.

Imagine my disappointment on seeing the film. The particular sequence (the girl's name was on the cast list as Suzette Sangallo, although in the one scene where she speaks she had a quasi Yorkshire accent!) where she attacks the cheesecake was ultimately very soft but nonetheless it was clearly the same sequence that the hardcore pics were taken from.

I long suspected that there was a hardcore version of this film, but sadly never managed to uncover it.

However a couple of years later imagine my surprise when the same girl turns up on a hardcore film by Karl Ordinez (any info on this guy and his films?). The tape I had (now sadly long gone) was a two story tape. First story involved a dreamy huge busted girl at a health farm (Suzy Mandel from Benny Hill also in the film but not hardcore) and the second was a sort of threesome with a sort of Au pair angle to it.

Going back to Come Play with Me there was another girl (listed as Sonia) who also looked as if she was involved in a hardcore scene. (According to IMDB she commited suicide in 1984).

As its yonks ago I don't suppose anyone has any further info on this girl or Karl Ordinez or indeed whether there was a h/c version of CPwM

YESSSS! I knew there might be someone who could identify the big, busty babe in the Karl Ordinez film. I've got it....it's called "Health Farm", and it's got another big & busty in it who goes by the name of Mary in the film.

Sadly, I only have it on Betamax, and my Sony C9 is broken...I'll need to get it fixed, even if it's just to watch it again. Karl made a lot of films in the 80s....all of them h/c and available to but mail order at the time...I'll try and find an old copy of Men Only or Club, since there was an ad for them there.

An interesting curio: When the busty babe is being driven to the Health Farm, the Rolls that's driving her is going down one of the roads near me (The Fina petrol station is still there to this day), and it passes in front of my street...that's the closest I'll get to appearing in a h/c film ;o)

Nice to see Karls name again.Karl Ordinez was the Guv'ner of continental porn throughout the 70's. When Video arrived, 8mm films declined, and so did Karls business. He was, by all accounts, a very nice person, who really cared for his performers. Burt Reynolds porn director character from Boogie Nights is in the same mould as Karl. Some English models worked for Karl, most famously Mary Millington. According to Simon Sheridan, who is an expert on British 70's porn, a hardcore version of both Come Play with Me and Playbirds was made, but never released, not even on the continent. It is rumoured that David Sullivan, who financed the films, has the master copies and won't release them,as his personal tribute to his then lover, Mary Millington, who died in 1979. As for Suzette Sangalo Bond, she was Italian-American, and did indeed feature in h/c scenes with English actress Lisa Taylor and Gewrman h/c model Sonia. The scenes were in a swimming pool in Weston Manor Hall. I believe these scenes are available but not with the other h/c scenes from Come Play with Me. Suzy Mandell was a Benny Hill girl who did nude work, but not h/c. She tried to launch herself in the USA as a Benny Hill girl. The Yanks loved Benny and were keen to see Suzy doing the bump and grind. She didn't! She was served a writ in the early 80's to stop promoting herself as a Benny Hill girl as her nude work caused embarrasment to the producers of Benny.

'Fleshpot' ed by Jack Stevenson on page 196 has a note (note 5)about 'Karl Ordinez' suggesting a nom de plume (could be John Lindsay himself?)

It was a very closely guarded secret at the time but Russell Gay, the guy who created the Fiesta/Knave empire that later became Galaxy Publications, actually shot hardcore (along with soft) in his offices/studios in Kilburn up until the early 1980s ? when he sold up and scarpered before the taxman could get him.

For some reason I always assumed that he was Karl Ordinez ? but I have absolutely nothing to back this up beyond an increasingly unreliable memory.

Which is a very long-winded way of saying ?allegedly?

I'm proud to be a '70s zimmer-porner. I remember running the John Lindsay/Taboo films on an 8mm projector, and their shop in Wardour Street where the hard-core films, with explicit box-covers were sold openly. In the late 1970's it seemed that anything went..WH Smiths (for heavens sake) sold a glossy skin magazine called Lolita! Then the 1979 election brought La Thatcher to power, the VRA etc etc.

I don't know why I still find these films intensely erotic - there's no silicone, tattoos or metallic piercings, no anal and therefore no DP, A2M, spitting into distended rectums etc. (More seriously, there's some bizarre 1970s colour reproduction, and the dubbed sound when transferred to video is pretty dire)Oh and there were plots of a sort..you can't develop that much in an 8mm loop.

Anyway, I have a fair few of these films on video, but I would like to fill the gaps in my collection. If anyone wishes to trade these please get in touch.
