I would have to put a vote in for Sarah Young and Misty McCaine. Having shot them both many times and seen just how professional they are working on major film sets they have to rank near the top. These girls wanted to be STARS and that is the difference, they both set out to achieve the status in their known way but the did get there and they did do it their way. I have to go back a long way to find similar girls, one who will be remembered by a few of the grey haired slap heads who frequent these pages will be the lovely Mary Millington. Lovely girl, she wanted something, set out to get it and the rest is just sad history. But, lest we forget. There are a lot of short stories in porn!

I think that a part of being a porn star, as apposed to a porn model is the whole ethos, the fact that there should be some mystery surrounding the girl, that she should have a special appeal. Both of the above girls were fortunate to work in the industry at a time when we were still spending money making films, no disrespect to what?s being done now but when the average budget is around ?1000 you aint gona get much glamour. I?m not saying that money buys the glamour or makes the sex better but it certainly helps if you know that the distributors are not going sink into the ground when you ask them for more than ?1500 for particular rights to your latest work of art.
The other problem facing the girls in the business today is that when the main interest is in 20 min. scenes there is no room for the story to develop, no room for the girl to show that maybe she can string together more words than just ?fuck me big boy? and other banalities. That?s about all they get time for in my films anyway because everyone seems to demand the action as fast as possible and keep it to around 20 mins. The system today also mitigates against helping make the girls into real stars. Now it?s usual to pay the cast by the scene, I preferred the situation where we negotiated a price for the movie, set out what was expected and gave the cast some interest in what they were doing. I can?t say I much care for the situation that many times presents itself, where the girl is looking at her watch as she has to get off to her lap-dancing club (what are they)? Or has to meet a businessman at the local posh restaurant. Oh yes they do!

Most of the girls voted for here are great girls, they do what they do well despite the obstacles placed in their paths, I have only tried to outline these things to show that it?s not easy if the system is against you. My own vote for what its worth would have to be Wendy & Layla
By the way, what any one to do with Fiesta knows about erotic sex or porno you could write on the back of a small stamp.

I agree with what you are saying Remington, it is not always the easiest thing to get your own talent and persona through in a one scene manic fuck fest....
I know that a lot of people will probably knock me and say "yeah but its just porn" but when your in it as a long term career as am I
like to try and make every movie my best.
When I go back to the states I am hoping to get more work doing feature films, hence one of the reasons for the new look, having spoke to numerous people much a Ron Jeremy about how the business used to be
I sometimes wish that I had been born a few years sooner !!!

Yes, it WAS for personal reasons... personal reasons which I have already chosen to share with the forum... But, If I were to say that it didn't have anything whatsoever to do with the business I'm in... Well, that would be the equivalent of my taking the forum contributors for idiots...
Hence why I said "ONE of the reasons for the new look..."

I've said this before, so apologies for the repetition, but many of the classics from even before Ron Jeremy made his porn debut are now being re-released on DVD. They had much more cumbersome equipment in those days, so you can't always see as much of the detail of the sex as you do now, but they were much better as films. They were also much better than the 'features' you now get when porn films try to have a story. I prefer porn with a story, but not the so-called 'erotic thrillers'. The story should either be about sex, e.g. hard core Emmannuelle-type stuff, or Carry-On or seaside postcard type with hard core where the story isn't meant to be taken seriously. The erotic thriller fails as a thriller and usually fails as porn too.

Thus present porn is competing with the past. I hope other producers have the same feelings as Remington and maybe some erotica will be produced - as well as, not instead of, the gonzo stuff, which can also be good. I realise the budget is a huge constraint though.

That could have been phrased better I think:)
First thing that popped into my mind didn't involve any
literary efforts but your point is made.
It does seem some people do take the opportunity to have
a dig at you and the other girls but apart from a few most are genuine and not out to insult anyone.
I hope it doesn't put others "stars" from contributing to these forums because without you and the others it just wouldn't be the same.
