Journalist needs porn info

I'm a freelance journalist currently looking at putting together a feature on the British porn industry. The basic gist will be about how big the industry is, yet still pretty hidden from/ignored by the mainstream, and the way that some of the women involved are - within the business - kind of 'big' celebrities, but again, unknown to most of the public (despite probably being more popular than a lot of d-list celebrities).
I'd appreciate any thoughts or info on the following questions:
Annual turnover of the british porn industry?
Any particular areas where the industry has based itself?
Who are the most popular women working at present?
Has British porn become more popular abroad? Is this due to legal changes, or is it more a change in tastes?

Any other thoughts or ideas about people who would be interesting to speak to, or have particulary interesting stories would be appreciated.

Possibly if people in the industry were slightly more welcoming to inquiries like this, there might be better understanding between the porn community and the press. Just a thought but maybe attitudes like yours breed hostility and lead to further mis-portrayal in the press.

I agree with Rimbaud and Oid. All this secrecy and suspiciousness of anyone outside the industry is an unfortunate hangover from porns criminal past.

I align myself with no one - I am not part of a secret club. Journos , with a few exceptions are either there to help sell some product, sell their viewpoint (in a sensationalistic way as possible) or to further the aims of global dominating media tycoons.

I find Polly Toynbee and T.V. and food Critic of the sunday times -A.A. Gill (who has actually directed a porn film (not seen it)) most interesting. David Flint I think is also a good one (although he is described as a historian by some). David should know tons.

Unfortunately i dont have any of the info you require.Only to say that in the UK is a huge potential market waiting for mail order/video rental xxx legalisation.
