Do "Togs" give Models Pics ?

I give a model a set of pics, with a watermark to my site, as a matter of principle. I know not everyone would do it, but I feel at least the model should get some pics she can show on her site or uses for promotional use.

Yes but never to sell on.

A couple of prints for their portfolio is fine, (on an eyes only basis), but publishers tend to get funny and not pay if the set they just spent a pittance on acquiring exclusive first rights to, starts turning up on website all over the place for free.

My good friend Double Dee does two rates a lower one for non-exclusive for a share of content for her website and a higher rate for exclusive content where she might take a couple for her eyes only.

I tend to shoot multiple sets, and give 1 set to the model, watermarked with my URL and stuff, as hey, if she hammers the net showing every one, they are more likely to visit my site, and ultimate make me busier its free promo

But peters point is very Valid, A model recently was told to wait til X date when the pics was in the mag then she would be able to post them, the silly cow posted them almost immediately as an 'exclusive before the mag' photoset.

Needless to day, I wont be seeing her again, and steps was taken, Also means i wont make the mistake a again.

Generally i'm easy going, some sets i shoot will be Exclusive, some are promo use, some are content share, so comes down to what i shot.

Compared to the American mags and considering none of the UK lot have put up their prices paid since 1989 (yes that's 3 decades ago) it is actually a pittance.

?800 for a set and a video clip seems very fair to me and that's just for UK publication rights, there's nothing to preclude the sale of the same set overseas and, if that's not good enough, after they use your stuff they give it back to you so you can flog it again!! I can't think of any other business where, having sold your goods, your customer returns your good to you so you can sell the same thing again.

I'm interested to know what fee publishers should be forking out these days. Hell, I NEED to know!!
