Ned, are you already a Yahoo member or attempting to signup anew?
I'm a longtime Yahoo member, and the confirmation email is just a formality, it does not prevent or allow you access to a given group or club. Have you tried to access the clubs you joined?
One possibility is you email is incorrect in your yahoo profile.

As far as I can gather, Yahoo are trying to migrate Clubs users across to Yahoo Groups. They are not enabling the opening of any more Clubs, but you can still start a new Group.

I am a member

Have joined a few groups but can't access any of the clubs at all. I "join", confirm email etc and never get access or a reply. The email address I give is correct because I am getting mail from groups I have joined and it's the same addy for both.

'I am getting mail from groups ', so you get some mail from some groups but not all groups?
You can't access any clubs(view pics etc)? What do you get? Can you read messages?
Ned

I have no problems at all with groups.

With every club I get to the screen which has the "receive email" button to confirm you have a valid email addy for membership, but I've never had a mail and can never access anything because I am not a member of the club. Any of them.

You go to a new club...near upper left it says "You are a guest"
and to the far right, it say "Join this club". You should click on "Join this club". You will then be presented with a new screen. New screen says "1.Select Yahoo ID....2.Enter a Comment...3.Receive Club messages....4.Review the Agreement.."
and at the bottom of the page there two buttons to click on either "Yes!I Accept" or "No! Forget it". You should click on "Yes I Accept". At this point you have to wait a second or many seconds, depending on how well Yahoo is running at the time. After the processing finishes, you will be taken immediately to the front page of the club, and at the place where "You are a guest" was before, now will read "Hello, Ned. You are a member".

That's is how the process SHOULD work. The only thing I'm uncertain about is you say you have never joined a club. Seems I remember the very first time with the first club, there was some email confirmation procedure involved. Then all subsequent clubs joined were exactly as described above. Hope this helps.
