I'm not sure if the moderators will bumb this to the o/t forum but here goes. I wanted to pay off part of my statement last night but had a few queries. I settled those, then the geezer on the other end of the phone threw a curve ball. He wanted to know if i knew about a few "odd" payments from amercian pay sites over the last few months. Instantly i knew it was payments for realpunting, uk nymphos and killergram and others over the years. Do i fess up or lie? I mumbled i was not sure what they were for. He then proceeded to put me on hold to speak with his manager. He came back on. He knew, that i knew, that he knew what they were for. There was a uncomfortable silence. I told him i would look in to it. I came off that phone feeling like he thought he'd just had Chris Langham on the phone!
The long winded point i am trying to make is this. Why is it, when we register on British sites we get billed to some suspicious sounding yank site! Can these sites give us the option of paying through paypal for instance? Then it would look that i was hooked on ebay rather than good old british muck!
Credit cards
Re: Credit cards
They don't care...they were making sure you knew about the transactions in case it was identity theft. The "suspicious sounding yank site" is CCBill who are a very reputable billing company that most of us use and put an enormous amount of money the credit card companies' way.
We can't use Paypal - it doesn't allow porn.

Re: Credit cards
Fuck em babe, what business is it of theirs what you do with the card.
It is very very limited which Credit Card processing companies we can use, unfortunately most are American.
I am presently looking into using EUPaycom as well as CCBill for mine.
EUPaycom gives the surfer / wannabee member more payment choices than CCBill with switch and solo so your not tied to credit card but can also whip out the old debit card too.

Point taken Alice! I did not know that paypal forbids porn. What annoyed was the "we know what your doing" attitude. Guess that is the price to pay to watch quality British porn!

Re: Credit cards
I tried to join RGB's excellent site using CC Bill and a Sterling credit card with a five figure (thousands) credit limit and, at the time, no outstanding balance. It is registered to my non-UK address and is accepted around the world and by many internet retailers for computer and camera gear.
They did accept my Euro card, registered to the same address, which has a low four figure credit limit and, at the time, had an outstanding balance of 90% of the credit limit.

Re: Credit cards
I think that you could have a case for that person pushing the "require to know" too far - even if they ask as a fraud prevention measure.
To my knowledge they are required to only look at your account as far as you are asking them to. In other words an enquiry from you does not give them a right to examine every aspect of your account. This is particularly relevant when dealing with overseas call centres.

It was a British call centre. He caught me on the hop when he mentioned the payments. Maybe it was to do with fraud prevention but i got the distinct feeling he knew it was payments for filth.

CCBill can be quite choosy about what credit cards they accept. Though they're improving in that they have some local billing options developing for Europe if sites choose to use them. Lots of sites use secondary processors because of that.
Paypal stopped handling adult stuff quite a while back, even for site producers paying affiliates (with a couple exceptions I can think of). Most then switched for handling their online payments via epassporte. There's a few sites that accept payment by epassporte now too. Works a little like paypal, except you actually get a Virtual Visa card that you can top up or draw out money from, even at ATMs. Unfortunately, CCBill processed sites don't accept Virtual Visa for payment yet.
If more sites started accepting epassporte as a billing option, noone would know what you spent your dosh on. The only statements for it are online ones.
