What effect if any is the credit crunch having on the porn industry?

Are there more girls coming into the industry due to money problems?

Are producers paying less now?

Did Bluebird ever start up? Sorry I've been away.

Due to the credit crunch more models are doing other things e.g. parties, escorting to earn a crust, producers even though they are not paying less they do look for new girls that can be paid less than Pro models who know the going rate.
Things have slowed quite a bit over the last few months but like food & drink people always need sex, its going with the flow & looking for new gaps in a already massive market.

I fully expect that over the next few weeks many more models new and old will be advertising for modelling.

It seems to be the same most years come September the models with children start looking for work again after the kids are back at school.

Also come October we have the new influx of students back at Uni. looking to supplement their grant.

With the Credit Crunch i dont know if it will be any greater this year.

The business and especially here in the UK is dying on it's feet. Been happening for about 5 years.

Paul. Yes. Production is down dramtically and you all make points I agree with.

As for producers looking for the new girls naive to the standard payment...well I think this has always been in effect since boom time Kim.

Dave, the industry isnt dying. Its evolving and its been that way since I came in some 15 years ago and the internet with all its free porn has had a huge part in that but think about it, piracy has always been around since the heady days of VHS and the cake is being divided between a lot of new players and smaller producers taking nips at the crumbs ( a crass analogy but no less true for it). If yo umean it is dying because companies are not spending as much as they used to then there are still exceptions to that too. In truth there are more big wheeling companies than the old days because we are in a new era now.

Ive heard of people selling up their sites in the US which indicates things are quite bad.

This used to be a recession proof business but since there is plenty out there for free already I guess a lot of people have opted to take advantage of it.

Nikonman: You must have been around a fair while to observe that pattern. I have to agree with you.

On the whole, the animal that is porn is actually still flourishing. You just have to find new and interesting ways to make the punter want to part with his cash.

Simple facts are that ALL production companies (well those that are left) have cut their budgets astronomically when commissioning projects and especially buying anything in (which has virtually stopped nowadays). They all want more for less. Models fees have gone up as have all costs but relatively the earnings are dropping daily as are the avenues to sell it.

Magazines really are all dying. The amount of togs that I speak to all say they CANNOT make any money from a rapidly depreciating market.

And with so much free stuff available on tinterweb including your stuff Terry, I can't see how anyone in their right mind can want to invest in this biz.

I agree Terry the biz will survive and a few will flourish as with all businesses in whatever financial climate. Porn will always be around. But the business as we knew it 5-10 years ago has virtually gone.

Paul, I never spelled the end for high end stuff.

There is definitely a market for this genre as you work with Playboy and I'm sure they remunerate you well for your polished professional product which is well suited to a commercial channel with a wide audience.

I think the 2 people on the sofa stuff may not sound very imaginative, some say dull and boring but I do feel the buying public like it simple.I know this as I've been selling this format for years and so do a lo tof other producers. it just depends who is on that sofa and what they are doing and whom they are soing it with whgich sells the product.

When it comes to porn, amateur product and high end are both good as it satisfies what the particular consumer wants.

In short, all porn is good (just some is better than most)

I dont honestly believe that a consumer is going to favour helicopters flying over palm trees and sunshine unless he can see the sort of sex that makes him want to part with his cash. If they want that they can watch a lot of US television.

Now if someone shot that with a girl doing a dp and rogered senseless I'm sure that will sell by the bucketloads !happy!

Otherwise, the sofa, bed or kitchen unit will do. Its all about the pussy man.
