Roxanne Coxx

Post by MikeA »

Roxanne Coxx is Romanian but has made most (?all) of her films in Britain. So she might qualify for either bgafd or egafd. I don't think though that she should have entries in both:

I agree, especially in light of the battle I've had to get
Sara Nice/Evie/Jessica Love 'repatriated' to egafd.
The result? A score-draw.....

Veronica [2] also has a somewhat more prolific egafd entry-
currently all-UK, true, but there are several Euro titles in the
queue to be added.

Re. Roxy, this is the only one that could be classified as 'offshore'.

I had hoped that the moderators might feel moved to comment on this issue. The problem stems from the fact that the criteria in the BGAFD FAQ under 1.1 What are the criteria for including an actress on the site?: "Those born elsewhere but resident in Britain, even if only for a time, are included if they made videos in Britain, e.g. Lana Cox. This might include residents elsewhere who made several British videos." overlap with the implicit criterion for EGAFD of including all Europeans.

I suspect that rule that is actually being applied is that European girls who have only (or practically only) made films in Britain (or for British companies) are listed in BGAFD and those that have also made significant number of films in continental Europe are listed in EGAFD. This then makes the decision depend on one's judgement of what is significant.

On this basis Roxanne Coxx should be in BGAFD and Kat Varga is also correctly listed here. On the other hand Janca is correctly listed in EGAFD because she made enough films for Dennis Black Magic, even though the majority of her titles are British, as is Sara Nice who has done quite a few in various European countries (though not it seems her native Poland).

Evie is a more difficult case: she was resident in Britain and made the majority of her films here, but actually started her career in Germany. The three German films listed are vastly outweighed by the over 50 British ones, but if another half dozen came to light would that be enough to mandate a change?

So I don't think that it's easy, but I think it would help if the FAQ 1.1 was rewritten to set out the criteis more clearly (I think it has remained virtually uncharged since BGAFD started out -- ie since before EGAFD came on the scene).

The ideal solution ("ideal" in the sense of "it ain't going happen, mate") would be to merge the two databases, but provide a British view of the database which looked a bit like the current BGAFD. This would also save the duplication between the databases of records for individual films.

All fair enough.

Re. Evie and Sara; this was the 'score-draw'. Sara got moved, Evie
didn't. I gather that in the latter's case there may have been some
extraneous mioderatorly rationale to which I was not privy.
There is a high probablility that some [many?] of Evie's Euro titles
remain unlisted, along these lines .
As you say, a numerical advantage might tip the balance back to egafd,
all else being equal.
In Janca's case, I actually thought moving her to egafd was an odd
decision, given the 10:1 ratio of UK to Euro titles. But as long as I
know where to find her [and the others], I'm not too fussed- my main
concern in this regard is to prevent duplications like the Veronica/
Veronique one.

Or of course the Lolly Blond / Lolita duplication that someone pointed out on EGAFD recently.

PS Thanks for finding these Evie titles. She's one of my favourites.

Yes, indeed.

As she's listed on bgafd it's incumbent on me [and a matter of
simple courtesy] to notify any new appearances posted on egafd
here as well, so you'll always get to hear about them.

I see that the duplication of entries for Roxanne has been resolved by her deletion from EGAFD, and that for Veronica / Veronique by her deletion from BGAFD.

It would be helpful if changes like this could be flagged up in some in the Updates pages when they happen. Any chance of this?

P.S. The Lolly Blonde / Lolita duplication still exists even though all her BGAFD titles have been added to the EGAFD entry.

Unfortunately, that's not a particularly easy thing to do as we don't have a straightforward way to automatically show specific entries that have been deleted (as opposed to the ease with which we can pull out the new stuff onto the updates page). Will try to give it some thought though ...

The failure to remove Lolita from BGAFD after moving her titles to EGAFD was just an oversight. She'll be removed next update.

I thought that would be the case. However, if there is some way of doing it that would be helpful.

Have you been able to consider the point I made above about revising FAQ 1.1 to clarify the policy concerning the choice between inclusion in BGAFD and EGAFD?
