I have had a search through the forum but couldn't really find the info I was after.
Basically I was wondering what the Customs procedure is for imported stuff.
Do they search EVERY item that comes in ? or is it a random thing ?
If they do find anything they dont like what do they do next, send you a letter or knock on your door ?
What about imorting BD stuff from the US, should that be OK or is that even borderline ?
Cheers
PS. Sorry for being a pain in the arse but I really haven't got a clue about ths stuff !?!

Re: C & E...?
have you used the search engine at the top of the page (not the side)?
if you do a search using the terms 'customs' or 'bgafd', you'll get a ton of correspondence relating to these matters. try these:

Re: C & E...?
The question was not what they should do, but what do they do? I have imported many DVDs from the States and have had no indication that anything has ever been looked at, the only time any thing was checked, (non porn) it was covered in stickers etc. and I was ordered to pay. I cannot believe that they open and check every item that comes into trhe country.

Re: C & E...?
mac asks several questions which relate to what customs find acceptable and what they are likely to bust you for.
afaik, no one has had any material improperly withheld by customs since liberalisation, if it conforms to the new guidelines. that includes joe kings video's which, going by his description of their contents, would require cuts by the bbfc in order to obtain an r18 release (that doesn't make it right, of course).
as outlined on the customs web site (www.hmce.gov.uk), current guidelines permit the importation of material compliant with the bbfc r18 classification:
"Prohibited goods (that is, goods which are banned completely)
Indecent and obscene material featuring children, such as books, magazines, films, videotapes, laser discs and software.
Pornographic material other than that which depicts the type of consensual sexual activity between adults which can be legally purchased in the UK."
if anyone has had stuff seized by customs, they think is compliant with the new r18 guidelines, or knows of someone who has, a post outlining what actually happened would be useful.
btw mac, ben dover now has 22 r18 hardcore titles available from licensed sex shops. as long as the imported versions comply with the bbfc guidelines (i.e. they don't contain any of the pissing scenes that were edited for their release here) there won't be any problems with customs, even if they are inspected.

Re: C & E...?
the c & e have a list of what they seize, I was told that straight urination was okay. Urolagnia - pissing on someone, drinking pee was not (so they can seize 'Salo' right ?). I tried to ask for a list of seizeable items but they(kent) said speak to London headquarters (a bit of buck passing?)
C & e can't watch all the vid, so I guess if you are unlucky and the vid contains urolagnia quite frequently then it is more likely to be seized. Also, the packaging and sources might be more liable.

Re: C & E...?
I recently got a dvd- GUY'S WHO CRAVE BIG TITS and it had been checked by U.S customs and U.K customs and had some pissing on someone in one of the trailers but that was all. It got through without any problems and received in 5 days-which was pretty good. The duty to be paid is for parcels below the value of ?40 I believe.

Am I Right?
Can you guys confirm for me that if I order a hard core DVD from the U.S.A (e.g. Down the hatch) customs won't confiscate it, even if they open the package? (assuming theres no pissing etc)
In the past (before R18) I had several VHS tapes seized...
Thanks

Re: Am I Right?
'down the hatch' will be no problem, if it complies with the bbfc r18 guidelines.
