Pop stars are generally in it for the long run. Whereas many pornstars come and go, returning back to a normal life, raising kids. It just helps to have an alias, like superheros who have a similar double life.

I would add to max's post and suggest the use of completely made up names for pop stars/actors etc is even more so than in porn, think a fair few porn stars may at least use their real first name.
the list is endless in the "real world of entertainment"

alan rankine became hank marvin and so on.How many celebs of jewish descent use their real names? very few.

Yeah I affectionately call this "tour of booty" where a girl serves two years in the service of porn before leaving to relative obscurity of everyday real life.
