Multiple identical posts

There have been quite a few of these lately. I think from my own experience of doing the same that they tend to happen when the forum is slow and you send off your post, then wait an age for your page to refresh, give up and make the post again. It is almost always the case that your post has been made on these occasions and the result is a duplicate post. I suggest that when the forum is slow and you make a post, you copy it to the clipboard before posting. then wait to confirm that it didn't arrive before making another attempt.

Alec, could I be so bold as to suggest speeding the forum up a bit. It has been so slow lately that I am considering leaving you for ever. Nice to see you to see you Welsh.

the forum is slow because it's receiving so many hits. we're too damned popular for our own good!

the site will probably require a dedicated server at some point but that isn't going to happen right away - not least because of the financial consideration (the faster, the costlier).

things are heading in the right direction though and, hopefully, all will be rosy in the bgafd garden, once more. anyway, phil is on the case, so you know it will get sorted!

bgafd has just upped sticks to xxxwebhosting (see icon on left) and isn't likely to be moving elsewhere, in the forseeable future.

phil put a lot of effort into making the transition from the old host to the new, as smoothe as possible and the guy deserves a bit of a break!
