'What are handheld movie downloads?

Handheld movie downloads are movies from Strictly Broadband for playback on your handheld devices. This is different from renting movies in that once you've downloaded the movie, it's yours to keep forever!

After downloading the handheld movie files to your PC, you transfer them to your handheld device and watch to your heart's content!

What do I need to watch the handheld movies that you have?

We currently support handheld movie downloads in two popular video formats:

1. Apple iPod Video i.e. MP4 AVC format
2. Sony Play Station Portable (PSP) i.e. MP4 format

Please ensure you activate and download the correct format movie for your device. You will also need enough free space on your PC and your handheld device to download and transfer the movie to your handheld device. See below for details. '

Doesn't mp4 format actually get played by media player classic? I think it does!

That wasn't my question [I think...]. All Greek to an ole crusty
like me. WAP= What a Pain.

What I wanted to know was: would I be able to burn such a d/l to
disc so I can watch it from my comfy armchair, instead of hunched
like Quasimodo over me monitor- and thus make return visits to it
as often as I like, without having to redownload [and presumably
pay again for] the damn' thing?
IOW: rental, or purchase? Many of these TVX titles seem not to
make it to commercially-available DVD.

convert mp4 to dvd/video format to burn on dvd to watch on dvd player

doubt whether the resolution is dvd - don't know about ripping the stream

what about a media player? load onto your media player and plug into your tv etc ...

I'd thought of these, but no one solution [or combinations thereof]
is ideal.

As far as I'm aware, there is no option to own, the best you can do is hire a film for a year, so connecting your pc to your telly may be an option

Then I imagine it's a trade-off on their part between lower sales
and prevention of possible copyright-infringement.
I don't think an implicit assumption that every customer is a pirate
is a particularly good business-plan; if your assertion is true they
will, albeit to my regret and their loss, not get my custom.

The posters have more or less got it right. Here's a summary:

1) Most of our movies are in streaming format only (Windows originally, and newer movies are in Flash). They all play at DVD resolution or higher, so long as your connection is fast enough. We have about 5,000 full-length streaming movies, and add 3-4 new ones daily. You can rent a streaming movie for 7 days or one year, with unlimited viewing.

2) A selection of our movies can be downloaded to own - these are encoded for iPod and/or Sony PSP. You can watch them on a PC or Mac, but the resolution isn't as good as the streaming movies.

We don't plan to extend to "download to burn" - however, there are various ways to stream direct from your PC to your TV.
