Bob Belcher fined under the compensation act ?108,000(no typing error) for possession of unliscensed videos with intent to supply. This caused by the actions of one NICK PACE, one-time "partner" of Bob. Any info on this clown greatly appreciated & mail me prively.
I am totally incensed. Muggers, rapists etc and assorted other filth get far less. I'm probably the next target for Charing X--who of course monitor this site along with all others. That's OK
Come along-we've been this route before.
This lovely, benevolent free society we live in sucks.
For the uninitiated, Bob was one of the gentlemen of this business whose only crime was to be caught out doing what we all love-making & distributing porn, but the fucking BBFC have now got their way in a conspiricy with the Old Bill & the R18 rule-desigend to appease the public means exactly zilch-unless you are a david sullival, gold bros etc al.

If there is anyone else out there with some balls-lets start a movementIt would simply be in line with the rest of the Europe we are all supposed to support--except where sexual freedom is concerned

Marcus, how can this be caused by the actions of this ex-partner and why are the authorities taking action now, when it is so easy to order tapes from Europe?

there are so many companies (US & European) that supply to the UK these days. it doesn't make sense in this day and age

It's called JUSTIFYING YOUR EXISTENCE.......much easier bashing a couple of porno-makers than tackling desperate illegal immigrants or heavily-armed drug-runners. 'Twas ever thus, I just don't know how these pillocks sleep at night: after all, by their choice of action (or inaction), they're potentially endangering their own families. Now how's that for idiot logic?

Marcus, it always annoys me to hear of people being persecuted over harmless porn. One thing I dont understand is that your mate was done under the "compensation act". Who does he have to pay compensation to and for what? Is this the result of a civil court action between two former partners over financial matters or a police prosecution? Surely Mr Belcher cant be expected to pay compensation to the bbfc for failing to certificate his work. I know what twats the police can be but this is not even an obscenity matter.
Or am I out of date with current procedure?

The Courts had the power to conficate assets of convicted criminals in Fraud, drugs etc. This has now been extended to our business! They decided that as he was guilty of the heinous crime of selling unliscensed videos (not the content), his assets can be seized. Failing to find any vast Swiss deposits(!!)
they decided that his house was bought from the proceeds of this CRIME, therefore the order was made on the basis of one half of his house as it is jointly owned with his wife. Hence the figure of G108.
The Pace situation is totally different-was not for him Bob would probably never have been nicked in the first place.
For the record-are you reading this, Marcus Allen Ltd is now an overseas company.

have you tried taking this to the tabloids? Publicity would 'air' possibly some of the issues and stupidities in this situation?

I have just been told of the in's and out's of this case and it makes reason for a major panic. This law is currently being used to sort out the tobacco & booze barons who trade in importing cheap fags. Its pretty simple if you are selling something which is ilegal ie imported fags or unlicenced videos and money you earn can be confiscated on your conviction, or anything you have bought with this money (house, car, Boat etc).
I have been preaching the need to be a strait as possible for a couple of years now and most of my mates are including Marcus whose stuff I certificate are.
This won't affect the ordinary guy who buys unlicenced videos except if you are on the mail list of one of the illegal traders, well who knows what might happen it could be argued you are a witness to the crime and they may well give you a visit. I spoke to Bob last year and he knows he has my deepest sympathy. I hope he can come back from this.
To the rest watch out this mob are now on a roll and be careful even trading out of Europe I recently had a barrister look at the law regarding sending un-licenced videos from Belgium and his professional opinion was I would break the law in both countries as it is ilegal to market a product into a member state(EEC) knowing it to be ilegal. The Europeen court could hand out a massive fine for this. In the past the UK has not bothered about it but it seems now they can't lock us ordinary guys up so easy this might be the next big target.
Part of the proof for this came from Spain where a few mail-order companies we supplied got slapped because the videos did not have a Homologation(spanish certificartes)numbers even though they were BBFC18R and much tamer than the Spanish titles.

Good Luck Bob
From all at DMG.
