Re: downloading movies
Any reasonably fast PC will do, don't believe the ads that go on about the faster the processor, the better the experience, the processor speed is mostly irrelevant when it comes to downloading and playing movies, lots of RAM and a good video card are far more useful.
Here's just one route to get movies ...
Get hold of a program called mIRC (IRC being 'internet relay chat') It's free and a very useful program!
Install it and run it.
It should start and pop-up a window with options - fill in your details - nick/e-mail etc, also under 'DCC-folders' select 'disabled' and un-tick 'turn ignore back on in ..' - click 'OK'
In the bottom line of 'Status' window type
/server irc.wondernet.nu ... loads of text should appear ...
... and then a window should pop-up .. in the top line of this window type
/join xdcc-chat .. you have now choined a chat room ... but there's more!
click on the 3rd button in the main window 'channel folders'
... recognise it?
now type the following in the top line ..
/join xdcc-iso ... and watch this window!!
Soon you will see ads coming in from the bots in this channel .. some of which have movies for download .. loads of other stuff too!
... try this for an experiment ... type
/ctcp MP3-02 XDCC Send #1 ... you will then be offered 'Deep Purple 'On the Road CD1' ... the full CD!
As for movies, well on one of the bots there was 'Brianna loves Jenna' ... if you want it, just wait for the ad, then ask for it with the right command. I got 'Lord of the Rings' on 3 CD's from here.
There are loads of other servers .. loads of other channels ... some do programs .. some do music .. some do movies ... time for you to go elsewhere and find the necessary info.
PS I hope I haven't broken any forum rules with this information.. apologies if I have.

Re: downloading movies
A good place to try for full length movies is on one of the 2nd generation (ie. after Napster) file sharers such as Gnucleus, Grokster, Oasis, or Kazaa.
These sharers aren't very user friendly, with the exception of Kazaa, but don't take a long time to pick up and the rewards are great. I've downloaded full films like Debbie does Dallas and Ghost Town starring Jill Kelly. I have also downloaded several hi-quality Ben Dover clips, some 20 mins long, and many Linsey Dawn clips.
The main drawback of this however, is the size of the files. One full movie I downloaded was 1/2 Gigabyte! And so broadband and a large hard drive is very useful. But u can still get loads of shorter clips around 5-20 MB long, which are ok for 56k modems.
Hope this is useful.
