Shaftas .. whats all that about ??

I could name many adult stars who are worthy of an award but will never get a Shafta because they dont work for TVX.

It should be called "the Shaftas for performers who work for TVX"


I think it makes itself categorically clear that its just exclusively for TVX producers and performers and I for one have no problem with it.

I can think of many people in this industry deserving of an award for efforts they have done that go unnoticed but what awards system they dont get theymay get in another.

ETO is similar in that it deals with retiailrs.

UKAP always gets a multiple kick in the nuts but is broad in its producers and performers and not that I know much about the inner workings of it but I htink its done fairly among a bunch of judges as long as producers submit material in the time asked of them

How is a poster in agreement with me spineless??? Ive come in gfor a kicking on these forums for being wrong in the past and corrected by some. Is this some new trend to deliberatley disagree with someone in the industry just for the sake of it?

If my opinion isnt welcomed on here because Im in the industry then it makes perfect sense to me why a lot of people in the industry (mainly girls) dont come on here because they fear the attacks with nasty snide comments levelled at them.

Contrary to popular beleif many in the business dont have teflon reinforced egos as you think.

In fact, there are many in the industry that look down on me and feel I get what i deserve coming on here. I have my own mind. If I was into conforming I would never have gt into porn so I know what I got into when I signed up for it.

That aside, all awards systems are self serving but if you want to be par of something then as I always say: You got to be in it to winnit, innit!

I htink the smaller awards, even TVX are better than the mega huge ones like the AVNs simply becauise those awards are heavily inclined to support its sponsors than give out on the basis of a public vote.

As for public votes...Weeelll, when a certain female performer offered to give out blow jobs in exchange for votes there was no credibility in it when she won but she won none the less...So to you the public, shame on you for being so shallow...

I trust those who voted got their blow jobs and enjoyed it

So while the UK porn "industry" steadily goes down the toilet, a TV station decides to hold an awards cerenomy and celebrate and thank all the people who have worked for them over the previous year..........How dare they!!!

They also decide to call this cerenomy "The SHAFTAS" instead of the "Television x The Fantasy Channel Annual Awards Event".......How dare they!!!

Television X is one of the few concerns in this country that has provided work since 1994 for thousands of performers and many producers (Including myself) and if they want to hire a swanky place in Picaddilly and say "thanks" to their performers and producers, that's ok by me!!party!!drink!!party!!drink!

By the way it was a great evening in a great venue!

I,m not part of the TVX brigade at all but I applaud them for their efforts at a time when it all looks like its going downhill that someone can still get out the champers and fireworks and have a great night out for its staff.

It can only be a good thing surely. TVX has been criticised from the side lines for not making stars of its performers. This is a good start as any and bodes well in my book.

At they end of the day i'm inclined to think that they can put on an awards show if they like. It's the same with any company giving out inhouse awards. I mean if you get employee of the year or some other award at your work and you tell someone. You are probably going to say i got employee of the year. Not i got XY Companies employee of the year award. I think most people know that they are a TV:X award and that the name SHAFTA is up front because it's a take on BAFTA.

I do think the most positive way out of the situation would be a full Industry award like a British Porn Award? or BGAFD Awards? Whatever. But again as OEJ pointed out. If it's a panel who decides? Who is on the panel? Where have they did most of their work? Was it for one of the companies? And would the companies like TV:X, Killergram etc not try to lobby to get the awards? Therefore making a sham of the awards anyway and leaving some very deserving performers without an award again? Or if it's a public vote, then again the bribes could start or block voting etc. You can't win. So if TV:X want to give out their on awards to there own stars i don't really think there is anything wrong in that!

I mean were members of the public invited to the ceremony anyway? And if they were did they really think it was going to be an industry wide event and got upset and outraged that their favourite performer wasn't up for an award? And was anybody on here not involved in the industry looking out for the results? I know i wasn't.

Sorry to disappoint you guys but no I hadn't whipped out a dictionary or thesaurus. I'm make no apologies for my writing or speaking style being different from yours. It's always refreshing to see people show their closed-mindedness towards those who don't appear to be what they consider normal but then again ignorance seems to be celebrated as a good personal quality with some people...

We tried some independent 'industry' awards a few years back (I filmed two of them) and yep you guessed it they were hijacked and made a mockery of too. So moral probably is that if TVX or anyone else wants to set up an awards scheme/night - go for it but hey guys don't let it go to your heads, it's not really important !
