hiv test

Post by blacktounger »

Hi all, there's 1 question I always wanted to know. I'm interested in making my own video using a certified model instead of protection. But let's say if a model gets certified today and makes a movie tommorow and catches a virus tommorow god forbid and goes on and makes 5 more movies before her next test, that means she would've spread it to 6 men, and even then when she gets certified next month a virus doesn't show up between 3 weeks 3 months and sometimes even 6 months. It also surprises me the amount of pornstar escorts who go bare back on adult work.

Having a test don't make you bullet proof as porn stars are as much at risk as anyone else but having regular tests can pin point an outbreak if & when it happens.

If you feel that strongly use condoms...in 15 years we have never caught anything from fellow stars or swingers, we now ask for 3 consecutive monthly certs & expect serious people to be able to provide this as like you said in your post many STD can go undetected while in incubation.

The main industry will one day get stricter using this 3 cert policy that many amateurs do already but it takes time & for some money is far more important.

I have no issue providing as many certs as anyone wants to see. However whats the argument for producing the last three?

I can see no logical medical reason for it?

Like I say I have no objection to the production of three months certs but unless I am missing something fundamental here the oldest two become redundant when the freshest one is produced?

Can you clarify the reasoning for me please Kim

Most serious STD including HIV can take up to 3 months to incubate, having regular consecutive tests show you are positively clean & you have not had any nasty STD's in the months previous.

We also don't work with people who have worked in the States, South America or African countries in the last 3 months again because of the high cases of STD's & HIV in them countries.

Until safer options are presented within this mish mash of an industry we feel this works for us.

What is the logic of one test compared to 3 ?

Hi Kim

Thanks for your reasons and I agree that you should apply whatever approach you feel gives you most confidence and understand the logic behind you choosing not to work with people from higher risk areas.

There is no advantage in one month certs over three months other than convenience. Convenience should not come before safety .

If I felt previous monthly certs added to safety and reduced the risk of infection then I would insist on it and would be banging the drum for them as an industry standard.

However you state that

"having regular consecutive tests show you are positively clean"

No it doesnt. It proves that you have previously been clean which gives some comfort and suggest you are probably sensible, but the fact you can prove you were clean two and three months ago rather than just a couple of weeks ago has no real relevance as to whether you are clean today! Your most recent test supercedes the previous results whether they be good news or bad.

Also previous tests simply have no relevance to incubation periods. Yes some stds have incubation periods longer than we would like which ultimately means you can not eliminate risk just reduce it as much as possible. However going backwards is not going to make any difference as to whether somebody has an infection today that is undetectable at the moment but will be flagged up in the future.

Simply I dont see any medical case for anything other than the most recent cert. I will take all my certs to all my future shoots so people know I take sexual health seriously but I fail to be convinced that my cert from three months ago can really make any significant or meaningful difference as to the status of my sexual health today.

My concern is that people are going to get false confidence and be deluded from thinking that people are doing more in the important battle against stds when frankly the risk factor remains EXACTLY the same between one recent cert and three monthly certs.

The safest way is using condoms & certs but as the industry is money motivated & scared of change & they will always stick with the russian roulette way of certs even though the cert is worthless as soon as you have unprotected sex.

The way we think is its a dangerous job like lots of others but we have chose this work & need to find the safest way we can, we have shot some films without condoms like everyone else but it is with couples who usually wear condoms & are tested first.

We have spoke to some Pro mainstream people who think the odd couple of minor STD's a year is the norm & that proves why we stick with people like us who use both condoms & certs.

It as been our concern also that people are going to get false confidence and are deluded in thinking any cert is safe be it 1 or 3.

Most producers wouldn't ask for the last 3 certs anyway as they are struggling to find models in this recession.
