That's better......I won't have you slandering my lovely Laura. That's ten Hail Marys and a Paternoster, with 20 self-flagellatory strokes of the asperger............Hannah, we need you RIGHT now!!!

Re: SYLVIA SAINT
I'm a little rusty, but as I remember it the story of The Emperor's New Clothes involves a scam artist tailor who sells the King a bill of goods in the shape of a non existent set of clothes, convincing him they're the height of fashion.
At the big public celebration, the Subjects (the herd) betray their common sense and unwittingly go along with the preposterous con. Because they are in thrall to the King and believe his judgement is superior to their own, and because they are scared and tyrannised by peer pressure, no one is brave enough to state the obvious. No one that is until some young lad - innocent, and as yet uncorrupted by peer pressure and the need to seem smart and fashionable - steps up to the plate and says what everyone else is unable/too afraid to express "Hang on matey - the King is naked"! This simple lad thereby releases the people from the spell of conformity, the need to fall into line with everyone else, and they all have a jolly good laugh about it.
It is clear to see who the Hero of the story is, and who are the Dupes. And unfortunately whenever anyone quotes the Emperor's New Clothes tale in service of their own opinion they are inevitably casting themselves in the role of uncorrupted hero, and the rest - who don't share the same view - as the poor deluded fools. Or worse: the cowardly contemptible idiots who would prefer to be in thrall to the King (in this case the critic or the director's reputation) rather than voice an opinion of their own.
Dr No - our Hero!

Re: SYLVIA SAINT
Having just watched La Maison des Phantasmes, Parties Fines (Education of the Baroness) and Couple Cherche Esclave Sexuel, I'd start with Brigitte Lahaie. If 'star' is defined as ability to carry a feature (porn) film on her own, which Ms Lahaie did in those examples and then some, then it is impossible to judge current British performers as no one has made such a film.

Re: SYLVIA SAINT
Sorry, I didn't make myself clear (as usual?).......the story I've of course heard: I just didn't see how it could be meaningfully applied here.
For the last para, W, for saving my two typing fingers for more nefarious purposes.
