Help! Have I Got Pop Ups All Over

Someone please help me. I keep getting windows popping up all the time when I'm online regarding teen sites. I've cleared my PC cache, run AdAware and ScanDisk but can't find anything. What could it be and how can I clear it without spending LOTS of money? Is there a reliable way of stopping these windows?

Pop Up Killer does nothing at all. It's been happily watching me close these things manually, laughing at me.

Try spybot...its meant to delve a little bit deeper than all the others

If that does't work then you'r left with finding out who programmed it
Sometimes they are nice enough to have a website with uninstall instructions

How did you clear the cache? If you do it from IE or by opening the temporary internet files and select all & delete, there's still stuff left.

Open the Temporary Internet Files with Windows Explorer and you'll find a file called IE Content or some such. Inside this are lots of nonsense name files full of images, pages etc that you thought you had got rid of. Nuke each of these files and reboot.

I make no guarantees, but it worked for me when I clicked a link and was sent to pop-up hell. Also turning off Java will cripple the little buggers, but obviously limits your net use somewhat.

You mean those names made up from numbers and letters? I wish I knew what these are for. I can't find any info. about them anywhere. They store all sorts of stuff but sometimes on an entirely random basis. I found that when I watch Cathy Barry's webcams some of the frames get saved there but only for a short section of the show and distributed across all the folders.

Seriously though. I have pop up stopper and often it does nothing to stop them. Pop-unders seem particularly imune to it.

Not worth turning java off...just to stop a few pesky pop ups and dialers...stops to much else from working

If you must...have a hunt in your control panel...internet properties...advanced....in mine under Microsoft vm-java logging enabled...just untick the box but don't quote me on it

I don't know either. I presume it's the sort of stuff that police can use in crimminal cases, and must also be of use somehow to site owners or ISP's. Equally, I have no idea if this is the sum total of what remains, or if there is a whole lot more hidden elsewere on the H/D. Ask Bill Gates! I'm not tekkie enough to have any real clue!
