Pink Elephants are a common sight in Glasgow City Centre usually seen after the pubs close.

BTW do they still show Tractor Racing from Finland on Eurosport? And that other great televised Finnish sport of "wife carrying" where men run across country carrying very large wives on thier backs.

How about 'dwarl-flunking'?
The 'dwarl' is a bar-towel soaked in stale beer, which is then 'flunked' by one player at the others, who are arranged in a circle around him. After three successful 'flunks', the 'flunker' is replaced by the player hit thrice, who also has as a forfeit to drink a pint of Hollands Gin mixed with the juice from a jar of cockles.
Very popular with Kentish students: and, yes, it really exists- I've played it. To lose.......

You forgot to mention with the wife carrying competition what the major prize was....the weight of your wife converted into beer I believe

As for where the Scots got their Elephants from...a lease deal with the Sri Lankans I'd be guessing
