So what? Well then so let's ignore it and carry on without any opinion whatsoever.

"...wisdom after the event stinks each and every time."

So riddle me this Jack. How many times is it going to take the genius that is Western politics, to realize this little wonder?
How about world history is littered with reminders. How many times do you need to swallow a soundbite before you sing to its tune?

So the coalition...sorry the word is a joke, so Messrs Bush & Blair want to make the world a safer place? But not safe for say, Algeria? Oh no because there is nothing to be gained there right? OK then, how about...say Zimbabwe? Whats that? Bush doesn't give a shit & Blair already has his popularity points at stake? Hmm...how about Bush's proposal for "sorting out" North Korea? Really? OK. Hmmm...wisdom AFTER the event is really a novelty and a pisser. NK have gone Nuclear and Dubya don't like it.
"Those are the baaad weapons of mass destruction, not like ours. Ours are good ones."
WMD. What a pathetic joke. Fuck me but 50 9mm Brownings are wmd's to me!
He even made reference to the war as a crusade through the east! Excuse me but how can anyone take a xenophobic comment like that for real?

So what about Israel & Palestine? Ah can't be doing that as most of the major investors in the US are Jewish.
Leads me on to the whole "Saddam has been responsible for major crimes etc" rant. No shit! Obviously we know who has to share that blame, but then with all the so called technology and capability of the wonderful west, when all the technobabble results in shit, then it comes down to a major bombing campaign. Lets kill the innocents and worry later.
Madeline Albright has already stated that by the time this is over, the death toll from starvation, bombing, shortages, etc etc add your demise, will total millions.
Millions is a lot of people in case you dont know, but I guess as long as it's not us right?
What do I propose? Arming the shit out of the so called regular Iraqie's that want him out. We are told that there are so many against him anyway. Ok, ok wartorn sarcasm.
What I would choose would certainly not be what we are seeing.
You can ask any number of the anti-war supporters this question.
Like Vietnam, a lot comes down to, this is not our war. But then that leads the pro-war to suddenly turn into humanitarians and say "Every war is ours for it could be us next" yeah but it wont, after all, we are supreme right.

Before I forget this, Dibble, your final paragraph is so arrogant that I wont even bother. Pull your head back into the light.

Greed & hate are not the answers, but we can get sick to the back teeth of it all.
How many people here have lived through one of these modern day wars? Would you really be so pro if you had been there? Lived there or seen the damage done?
Is Saddam scum? Of course he is. Has he killed countless numbers with weapons from the west? Of course he has.
Whats the deal? Arm a tyrant, let him serve a purpose and then kill him and move on to another country.
You ever think what it would be like if the west quit trying to control little pawns? A lot less people would be dead for a start. Now with the invasion, even more die.
"Wisdom after the event?" My friend, it's happening all around the world as I type. More tinpot dictators are being armed by the big boys.
Russia caught up in a "You been supplying these little I-Rack-ee's?"

Most people sussed it out years ago. I thought it was blatant when General Zia, the dictator of Pakistan was blown up in his jet once his purpose had been served! You may have your own views.

Ever think this just causes more racial tension in this country? More hatred? What for?

What do we do?
Stop fucking arming these people and lets see just how special those elite units that can do absolutely anything, actually are.

You're right about Huxley, JJ. But learning from history is one thing. Conveniently cherry-picking from it to form a crooked yardstick is another.

With the anti-americanism in both other missives and the media now at psychosis level ('...and the academy award for worst Michael Moore impersonator is...'), I can only assume that the Iraqi crisis will be used against them regardless of the outcome; stored away, primed and ready, like so much bile. And doubtless the opportunity to spit it about will present itself in time, which should prove enjoyable for the practitioners. I can also only assume that their actual concern for Iraq and its people is as sincere as the posturing frauds and bandwagon-jumpers I rallied against to begin with (and they are ones who should 'put up and shut up', JJ - in order for the true voices to be heard from both sides). If you've got a star-spangled chip on your shoulder, then fine. The problem's yours to deal with. Just don't hi-jack this awful situation we're in as a means to a personal end. I didn't hear or see any shows of 'We hate America, and this is how to solve the Iraq problem' concern before. And I've heard precious little but questionable hectoring since.

The first casualty of this war will be the hindsight they so dearly prize.

Dibbles Weapons Of Crapness

Post by magoo »

You tell him Holden.

Dibbles rantings about handwringing, public sector, lentil eaters have been going on for years and are very silly. After we have finished with Iraq we should invade Dibbles cliche cupboard and destroy his collection of stereotypes before he unleashes them on any more of his neighbours or even his fellow forumites. He has bored thousands of forumites to death with his thatcherite loadsamoney rants and we stood by and did nothing. Some of us even armed him with some of his most deadly cliches. The time has come to disarm Dibble of his weapons of mass irritation because he might give them to someone else who might use them against us.

You can tell Dibbles not a real policeman. Hes far too much of a bleeding heart liberal to be in the filth. And he reminds me of Austin Powers the way he uses sixties words like "groovy", "dig" and "fab".

Safe to say that those that are pro-war and those that are anti-war will never agree

War will be with us to the day we perish IMPO

Even in times of so called peace there are conflicts going on just not worthy of any media coverage

I still don't think it's 'anti-Americanism' per se: if the global hyperpower were, say, Russia or China (heaven forbid...), they'd be getting the same brickbats the US is receiving today. It's the not unnatural fear, jealousy and resentment of one overwhelmingly powerful state that triggers a lot of this opprobrium.
'Cherry-picking'? Do you mean me?
