As for gallas. What are they? Some mysterious Oz creatures we hear about on Neighbours like larrakins and mungrels and other such beasts of Oz. When I was a kid we nearly emigrated to Oz. But my parents decided that the grey drizzle and thatcher driven decline of the UK was a better place to raise a family what with the threat of nuclear war etc. Oh and by the way people its worth remembering that during the Cold War it was USA policy to nuke Britain and Germany if the Russians had invaded us. Sorry I went all political again. I cant help it......I was raised on a diet of Ben Elton(now a sad old jewish twat who sold his wedding pics to The Sun) and Rik Mayall.

A galah is a sort of pink parakeet thingy: I believe that one of the early cast of Neighbours (probably the one without a girlfriend) kept one as a pet. They're not known for their intelligence (which seems odd for a parrot), hence the allusion.

Thanks. Now i can proclaim to know my gallas(Oz parrotts are dafter than ours btw) from my lesser black backed gulls. Even if I still cannot spell the former.
Having said that I still dont know my arse from my elbow.
I wonder if they have cormorants in Oz? Theres a canny few up here mainly sitting on disused jetties where the shipyards were prior to thatchers occupation of our great country.
