I share that opinion too Crimpo. Anything could happen in the future. Theres likely to be fighting between the various races within Iraq and various other forms of unrest. This is no simple task to resolve. Tensions will flare elsewhere in the Arab world if Dubyas mob stay too long.

Seeing the delight on the Iraqis faces now that Saddam is finished was heartwarming but I just hope that thier joy is not shattered by the rise of another oppresive regime or by long term occupation by the USA.

They deserve a bit of happiness after all these years of wars and oppression. Lets hope they get it. Iraq has always had the potential to be a prosperous and wealthy country. They need a proper democracy run by themselves and representing all racial/religious groups within Iraq if that potential is to be realised.

When Saddam came to power the USA backed him because they thought his regime was preferable to the communist regime that preceeded him. I hope they have learned from their mistake. But judging by the rapidly deterioating situation in Afghanistan I doubt they have grasped the concept that replacing one brutal regime with another(or several seperate ones) is a bad idea.

Time will tell.

I am glad I am not the only person to find the Info Ministers tv appearances rather amusing. His comical expression and amusing anecdotes had me wondering if he had been taking drugs. He seemed a rather whacky character living in a fantasy world.

Then it dawned on me that he has to make those wildly exaggerated claims about US casualties otherwise he might get into trouble with his gaffers. Thats probably why he is always grinning and looking amused when addressing the cameras. He will be thinking to himself "nobody believes a word I am saying but at least Saddam wont give me a chinese burn for not at least attempting to pretend we are winning". I am sure Mr Blair could offer him a job as a spin doctor. Hes more believable than Alistair Cambell and he has a beret.
