Anti spam question

Has anyone tried any of the anti spam programs that are curently available? I am being driven to despair by all the crap that keeps arriving in my inbox.
I've been using Lavasoft's ad-aware but obviously this is not enough.I have also got a set of filters that is a mile long, but still spam arrives.
Is it possible to configure Outlook 6 to ignore all mail execpt from those in my address book? That would be the ideal filter if it were possible.
