Caroline was still going in the 80s and early 90s albeit only on shortwave and the ship was outside of British waters to avoid being shut down. As you will be aware shortwave has very bad interference problems due to its signals bouncing all over the globe. Sometimes I would be listening when a voice would interupt saying "Your listening to the english service of Radio Korea" then a documentary about agriculture would follow. Not to mention all the interferance from maritime and military communications in voice and morse code etc. Remember the number stations? They just read out a series of numbers over and over again - nobody knows exactly what they were for but theres a lot less of them since the end of the Cold War so draw your own conclusions......coded messages to spys?

I think Caroline eventually went legit and is available on satellite.

Wasn't Caroline the one broadcast from a ship and is that where the term 'Pirate' radio station specifically came from?

Capital Radio is an excellent song by The Clash covering unlicenced broadcasts from DJ's who just wanna play music, unlike some noshers on the radio that like the sound of their own voice like Chris Moyles. I do not include Mark and Lard here as they ARE funny considering they are Mancs!!

Dont get me started on that Chris Moyles. Hes worse than any of the other people nominated on here over the last few days for the "cunt of the decade" award. I saw him verbally abusing some poor fat kid once on live tv. Disgusting man! And I am not just abusing him for the fun of it. He really is a nasty shit. And whats more I have the documents to prove it.

He honestly is much worse than the other tossers mentioned who are just a bit tedious really.

Moyles may have been funny to louts down the pub years ago, but he now seems to think that being obnoxious and downright rude to guests or listeners is funny. Its not. He is an overweight tosser who is pissed off because his dad gets more pussy than him and that 'Comedy Dave' is a lot funnier than him on his radio show.
