Not too many of us have answered this thread. Perhaps blows the myth that porn and horror are 'linked'? I love both and have loved horror since i was a child. Italian horror is my thing but also love the films from Denmark, Korea, Austria etc that Film Four throw up. Some real gems in there. 1 film i've never seen for a very long time and loved from the old horror double bill days when BBC was the ONLY bleedin' choice and that's 'Captain Kronos, Vampire Hunter'. Some memorable visions and reworkings on the vampire myth. Where the hell did this film get to then? Answers on a tenner to the usual address

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - it's not the gore, it's the atmosphere throughout the film.

Cap'n Kronos was quite good fun. If I recall correctly it was planned that it would turn into a series of flicks.

That's also reminded me of 'Kronos' a really offbeat vampire flick about a wierd device that turned people into the undead.

In both cases the main reason appears to be the personal taste of the late James Ferman at the BBFC.

TCM is a film that is impossible to censor, in the sense of cutting what you see, because the horror of it (IMHO) is always what is about to happen.

Ferman mantained that he was worried about young people seeing 'The Exorcist' on video and being distressed as a result, especially since the subject of the film was a young person. A logical argument perhaps, but if applied equally would have seen all those 'teens in terror' movies prohibited on video too.
