The ONLY science fiction film ever made in my opinion was Metropolis. Everything since has been a remake of that.

Big cities (Blade Runner, Minority Report, Things to Come)
Robots (Star Wars, Terminator)
Mad Scientist (Blade Runner)
Dystopian society (1984)
Industrial look (Terminator, Crystal Maze (ahem))
Influence on Queen video Radio Gaga (struggling for more ideas here)
Slaves in termoil whilsts the rich are comfy upstairs (Blade Runner, Soylent Green)

Nice to see we've cracked what the rest of your video collection consists of Woodgnome.

PS:
Janet Munro was utterly loverly, and she also featured in The Trollenberg Terror with the killer brain/eye/octopus things on the mountain. I have it and it's wickedly bad/good.

Sounds like a feasible argument up to a point

Personally I found
Star Trek,Battlestar Galactica & Planet of The Apes riveting viewing...at least in the early years

There are so many sci-fi books that would make great films but alas the money needed to do them justice wouldn't be recouped

I've heard Dune was a flop...Sting as the lead..give me a break

Could only imagine what Asimovs Foundation series would be like

cheers

Along with Ingrid Pitt, the female interest in Where Eagles Dare with Richard Buron and a bemused Clint Eastwood.

Couldn't agree more on 'The Matrix' front. Influential???? 'Planet of the Apes' is great in it's own right but the climax is still a stunner today. Compared with the poor recent remake it looks even better
