fave gangster movies of all time

at last! - my subject!!!
Right here goes - the ten best that I know of -
1) The Godfather (of course - and yes it is better than Godfather II)
'On this day all family business is settled'
2) The Godfather II (not as good as The Godfather but still better than every other film ever made in any genre).
'for Chrissakes Mikey lets hit em - lets hit em while we got the muscle'
3) Miller's Crossing - Love its design and 'Danny Boy' is a masterpiece
'the old man's still an artist with a thompson'
4) Goodfellas - if for nothing else for the Pesci performance - top class
'ah I'm only bustin ya balls'
5) The Long Good Friday - Hoskins shows the Brits can make good uns
'The Mafia - I've shit 'em'
6) Pulp Fiction - a little showey but has Jungle Boogie over the titles
'who's Zed - Zed's dead baby Zed's dead'
7) Casino - very underrated but a top cast doing a great job
'but meeting out here in the desert I put my chances at 50:50'
8) Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead - well I just like it!
'It was a carpentry accident'
9) Get Carter - Caine not Stallone!
'You're a big man but your in bad shape - with me its a full time job. Now behave yourself (and get back to your corner shop Alf).
10=) Get Shorty - again a good cast in fine form
'Ohhhh - that was it'
10=) Once Upon a Time in America - a tour de force for film buffs
'(long meaningful silence - there are many to pick from!!!)
Now when are we going to do Westerns or did I miss it?

Re: at last! - my subject!!!
Excuse me: they were making gangster flicks a LONG time before that little lot of Johnny-come-latelys.
Try Treasure of the Sierra Madre, for starters. Or White Heat.

OK, who put LSD in Liz's tea again?
He'll start claiming to have laid Stanley Baldwin again, now, and eating the furniture.......

True jj, White Heat is brilliant, and lets not forget Angels with Dirty Faces. The Electric Chair scene at the end is one of the best ever endings of a film.
