Re: memories of 1969
Some other things also happened in 1969 apart from steve's events but they were very minor compared to his:
Man Walked on the Moon (I remember being woken up in the early hours of the morning to watch the first ever Moon landing).
50 pence introduced in to everyday use.
Pele scored his 1,000th goal.
The 747 & Concord had their first flights.
Monty Phython's Flying Circus first shown.
Woodstock.

Re: memories of 1969
CC started school, gave up his dummy, and got his first action man.
Also suspect I had my first Curry a "Vesta" which now you wouldn't give to the dog, but in 1969 it was exotic and a real treat. LOL.
Ahhh happy days.

Vesta Curries: My dad used to buy them from a small supermarket store called "Wavy Line". Remember we also used to get a small biscuit type thing called an "Iced Diamond" or something like that.

Re: memories of 1969
LOL Yup good old vesta curries, funny how things come back to you innit.
Can you remember Fizz bombs bloody great sherbety gob stoppers.
And golden nugget chewing gum that came in a little draw string pouch.
Many a fine day was passed on my Chopper bike, with my oxford bags pockets crammed with them and as a special treat I got a bar of caramac chocolate, funny I brought one of those the other month and frankly it was disgusting...LOL...Christ I feel a real old bugger now.

Re: memories of 1969
Iced Gems yeah they were lovely little things, I think the Iced diamonds were a bigger buscuit with either yellow or pink icing and a swirl of the alternative colour in them, both were unfeasibly sweet, no wonder I have major dentists bills.
Palm of violets, swizzles & refreshers, the girls in our street used to make tea in their plasic tea sets, by putting these in cold water and mashing them up, for us mugs to drink.
Cool I like this thread.
