The Tingler/Pacific Heights

Post by Goater »

Never got a chance to taste the gimmicks first hand, mores the pity, Ace. Yes, Steve that's the one. Another thriller i thouroughly enjoyed was 'Pacific Heights'. Thought it was just superb on all fronts and Michael Keaton was absolutely perfect.

I had my deposit on an apartment held back by a bastard landlord when I worked in Bermuda, and I REALLY wish I'd done to my room what Keaton did to his. That would have been worth it to lose my deposit!!

LOL! Yeah, had some pretty bad experiences with landlords. Like mobsters or summat. You move in and within a week you owe them 10 weeks rent!

That's the fella. Supposedly a load scream would displace the nasy beastie, hence wiring up some seats to get some 'audience participation' going.

Another Castle gimmick was 'Emergo', a plastic skeleton thing that would swoop down on the audience. I think that was for 'The house on Haunted Hill'.

Puts me in mind of the very amusing movie with John Goodman as just that sort of exploitation film-maker set in Miami during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Can't recall the title off hand, but the schlock-horror pastiche ('Mant! Half-man, half-ant!) was a joy.

Yes, that was what Emergo was used in. Apparently the skeleton got pelted with all and sundry
