legal age for glamour / models?

Post by Cheeky Chappie »

Hi,

as someone who used to do web design I'm playing around with the idea of creating a web site for models based in UK. I know there are 100's on the net already but wouldn't be in it to make money, more just for fun.

Question is, what is the youngest a model on a site like that can be? Is it 16 or 18? I suspect because of what she's doing it will be 18, but any advice would be welcome.

Title supposed to be 'glamour / hardcore models'

General rule of thumb is that a model can do soft work (e.g topless & figure) between 16 & 18. However two issues to consider, 100% illegal in the US, so no chance of hosting / promoting out there and nobody under 18 can enter into a binding contract, so parental consent needed. I believe proposed changes in sex offences legislation will put a make 'the sexual exploitation of a minor under 18' an imprisonable offence, where these leaves even softer work I'm not sure. At this stage I'd advise caution.

There is an interesting new site at www.topless16.com just for topless girls under 18! So they obviously aren't too worried!

main reason for me asking is if I get queries from girls who are 16 & 17 saying they want to go on my site, but the site will also have 18+ girls who do hardcore.

Maybe it would be legally acceptable for me to have a seperate section for 16 & 17 year old models, who could obviously only do glamour, topless, no hardcore, agree?

Personally, I find it distasteful anyone under 19 wants to do hardcore. Each to their own, but thats MY opinion.
Cue torrents of abuse...............

Child Protection Act covers up to the age 16. Beyond that (16 - to death) is a grey area in this great nation of ours. Only thing certain (other than taxes and the forementioned death) is you must be at least 18 to sign a release.

I know what you're saying, all I'm wondering is where the law stands with regards to modelling web sites that deal with glamour / hardcore models and what to do if I get a query from a 16 - 17 year old who wants to be on the site.

Think after seeing the replies on here and what others are saying to me I'll probably do a split site or may do 2 completely separate sites.

Why not try saying "no thanks".

I cant decide what's worse. The kind of bloke who gets off on 16 year olds flashing their tits or the kind of parent that gives their consent for the photos to be taken.

Still, takes all sorts...
