Forget that American dream shit Rocky 2 onwards and sentimental bollocks 'The Champ', is there any film that betters 'Raging Bull'? And S56, PLEEEEEEEEASE don't post 'I couldda been a contender'

Re: Boxing Films
Good call, BUT it featured REAL boxers, AND it was a documentary as you quite rightly pointed out. Am I right in thinking it won an Oscar for best Documentary?

Re: Boxing Films
Raging Bull was a good film, and based on J.Lamotta(sp) private and personal life, which made it quite compulsive, I thought Rocky 1 was ok, then it all went pair shaped, while Stylone attemted to cash in on the rest, just like Rambo, not bad when it came out, but watching it now, and it seems like a joke, there,s some boxing films here, haven,t seen the rest though.

topper
Re: Boxing Films
Raging Bull, as Ace said, was definitely the best.
The fight scenes alone when Scorcese showed the punches being landed in slow motion and the damage each one did to each fighter was painful stuff to watch.
By the way what happened to the Celebrity Boxing on BBC, I wrote to them with a suggestion to who I wanted to see......Graham Norton v Mike Tyson.. and never got a reply.

Re: Boxing Films
I've just checked with IMDB and yes, it did. A rare example of the Academy actually getting it right.
