Just been sitting watching 'Queen at Wembley.' Awesome is all I can say, they're definitely in my top 3 bands of all time and I genuinely think it's a shame Freddie died before he should have. Remember seeing an interview with Elton John and he said 'it's pure luck that I'm still here and Freddie isn't - I thank God every day' etc etc.
I always think it's shite when people are taken from this world early 'cause you don't get to see them progress all the way through their career to the end. Fans of The Rolling Stones are now seeing them at the end of their career, the other end of the spectrum is Frank Sinatra, fans of his (must admit I like his music but am aware many don't) also got to see him perform 'to the end.' Fans of Elvis didn't, Elvis may well have reinvented himself as Tom Jones did to relight interest in him, or he might still have been grinding away in Vegas, would it really matter to his fans? Probably not.
I think it would be interesting to see how these acts would have developed had they not popped off to the big concert in the sky ..... sadly we'll never know.

Re: Queen
What about Brian Jones then my fave Stone ?
How many rockstars have lived and just faded ?
if someone dies they become a rock god ie Kirk had he lived would his records still be selling in the millions ?
No one died from Guns and Wankers yet i remember a time when every kid had a Guns t-shirt , now their cloging up my local Oxfam cant get through the door for em !! ship them to east europe i say (expect a flood of them in porn shoots!)
Bismillah no some of em have to go ..........and its what makes the long term money ?

Re: Queen
They are in the top tier of Brit bands for me
Unique British is the only description I can think of
Given that Freddie was a naturally shy person to me speaks volumes of him as a performer
Then there was the experience in Australia of being booed off stage in the seventies and to come back bigger and stronger shows a real resolve
Then you come to the songs...poetry in motion...anthems of a generation
Real sad to see Freddie going so young but he gave such wonderful performances in his time maybe it was a fitting end
I'm sure the young boy from Zanzibar wouldn't want us to grieve but to celebrate his music
cheers

Re: Queen
I happen to think Queen were the most over-rated bunch of tossers that came out of Britain, I really do. Freddie WAS gifted and a brilliant showman, but the band were a complete set of wankers who had a great 20 minutes at Live Aid and suddenly were globally huge. I did like there early stuff, particualy Sheer Heart Attack, but the bollocks they brought out from 1986 onwards was shite, IMO.
