Re: Is this crazy or what?
Thank you, Magoo. This I didn't know, and once again it seems the press aren't so much bending the facts as hiding them. Obviously this has been done to champion Martin and his actions. Then again, taking the law into their own hands seems to be one of Fleet Streets preoccupations these days, so no wonder. What a thoroughly wretched affair all round.

All true, but it's a bit of a diversion......
The fact that the tabloids rightly picked up on is that an awful lot of homeowners feel daily threatened by all the lairy, leery louts in their locale.

It appears that the homeowner is no longer allowed to defend his home from been broken into by standing up to the person breaking in.

Re: Is this crazy or what?
No, it's perfectly OK to use REASONABLE force.

I think road rage should be compusorary, It would stop all those twats driving badly. Let face it if you thought cutting someone up without saying sorry would entitle anyone to chase you, harrass you and then give you a malky would you drive like a twat, no,
As for the Tony thing a lot about nothing really, he shot someone for breaking into his house, seems fair really he got caught he gets punnished. You do the crime you do the time, everyone happy.

Re: Is this crazy or what?
Winky Wink old bean. Theres a huge difference between defending your home and what Martin did. He went too far and as a result he has to face the consequences. If he had fired a warning shot the burglars would have fled but he was furious and wanted blood. He knows he broke the law. He doesnt care. The public are right behind him.
Anyway he hasnt served a very long sentence for killing the young lad. He got off lightly. He was lucky not to have been convicted for murder.
The law still allows you to use force to protect yourself. But it has to be REASONABLE. And thats where the jury comes in. If 12 ordinary people believe that he used more force than a reasonable person would do in the same situation then hes guilty.
