Wow! I had no idea that '1984' was that old, you can't tell by Peter Cushing because he looks exactly the same in everything he's ever been in maybe except for Star Wars where they made him look more evil. Imagine him and Alec Guinness in the same film, but they don't meet, probably never on the same set and you get Star Wars. I wish I'd taped 1984 last night, I only stopped watching because I had a 6am start this morning. I thought the Big Brother character looked a bit like Terry ( posh 1950s villain with a gap in his teeth) Thomas?

For a TV drama of that vintage it would indeed have been done live with no video tape recording (all recording would have been to film only), awesome result when you think about it.

Speaking of live drama I recall when the original Avengers were repeated ten years ago and Patrick Mc Nee a seasoned live broadcaster by the mid 1960s said they did a lot of them live with just three cameras. You can see the ones which weren't live because they have filmed exterior scenes. 1984 also has filmed exterior scenes which makes me think that either it wasn't live or they used these so the cast could do a quick change routine. The mind boggles. Anyway the coked up fuckwit stress merchants you get in TV these days would not be capable of the like, no way. Let's have more live TV, and I don't mean Big Brother.

No offence but media people are frequently paid inversely proportional to their intelligence.
